International Women’s Day

International Women's Day

International Women’s Day is March 8th.  The 2016 theme is about a Pledge for Parity.  A Pledge for Parity is important as it is the equality in amount, character, and status.

Worldwide, women have made great strides in contributing to cultural, social, and political achievements.    We have much to celebrate today, however, this hasn’t been the case in other parts of the world.

What is International Women’s Day

International Women’s day began on March 8, 1975.    The General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace to be observed.   International Women’s Day has become a huge global day for Women to develop in all Countries.  With the growing international  Women’s movement, there has been an outpouring of support for Women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arena.  It is a day to reflect on progress and courage.  Women who have played an important role in the history of their Countries and Communities are celebrated by their devotion and courageous roles.

How to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2016

We celebrate by pledging for Parity.  Men and Women can take a step in helping Women everywhere in pledging for parity.  We need to help Girls and Women achieve their ambitions and goals.  Additionally, we need gender-balanced leadership.  Also, it would be nice to have the first Women President in the United States.  I’m a fan of Hilary Clinton and hope that she is able to secure the Democratic nomination and I hope she gets elected as the first United States President.   See my recent blog post on Hilary Clinton. Altogether, we need to respect and value differences.  Additionally, we need to develop much more flexibility in the workplace by developing inclusive and different cultures.   Furthermore, each of us is able to become a leader by committing, influencing, and taking a pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity.

With individuals pledging for action and Men and Women joining together we can help Women advance equally. Let’s realize Women’s potential and help in any way we can for Women all over the World.  As a matter of fact, we have a lot of work to do in this area.  In conclusion are you ready to see Women advance and achieve gender parity?

Let’s celebrate International Women’s Day and help all women achieve their goals and dreams.  In any event, please share your thoughts with me on this holiday and what you will be doing to help in the pledge for parity.
