Red Sox clinch the American League East last night with an ugly loss against the Yankees. Together with the Blue Jays loss against the Orioles gave the Sox first place.

In the light of the last two years being last place, it was nice to be back in first. After winning the last eleven games in a row, they lost the first game in the series against the Yankees. This season had a lot of ups and downs. Pitching has been erratic. Both the starters and bullpen have struggled off and on throughout the season. Their offense has been leading the majors.
Champagne flowed after clinching. Though the team clinched a playoff berth over the weekend, they waited to celebrate until they clinched first place. Various emotions were shown after clinching. Many players were having a bounce-back season. Players who started the season poorly were playing better.
Ugly Loss
Red Sox had a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning. Craig Kimbrel was brought in to get the save. He came into the game throwing more balls than strikes. Unfortunately, he couldn’t record an out. Joe Kelly entered the game. He recorded two quick outs. Since the bases were loaded, Mark Teixeira hit a grand slam. The grand slam kept the Yankee’s playoff hopes alive.
Hence the Red Sox lost the game. The final score was 5-3. As a fan, I was disappointed by their ugly loss.
Young Core
Red Sox young core enjoyed their first title. Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaert, and Jackie Bradley Jr. have been exciting players to watch. Mookie Betts could win American League MVP.

Altogether, this year’s Red Sox has clicked. In addition, this team is playing well this month. In conclusion, there are more games to play for the regular season. The playoffs begin after the regular season ends. Will the Red Sox advance? Will they be in the World Series? Of course, I want the Red Sox to win the World Series.
