Celtics Elimination at the Hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers

Celtics Elimination at the Hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers

So, the Boston Celtics elimination came last night at the hands of the Cavaliers who won the series. Although the Celtics were the number one seed coming into the playoffs, they weren’t favored to make it very far.

Celtics Elimination

While the Celtics loss was disappointing in Game 5, they showed some resilience in this series. After winning in Game 3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team was hoping to turn things around. Also, in Game 4 the Celtics led the Cavaliers through 2 quarters. Of course, anything is possible in the playoffs.

Moreover, the Celtics had a lot of injuries. With the Celtics losing big in their home games, the bad taste will remain in the off-season.

Celtics Elimination – Boston Celtics Off Season

Now that the Celtics playoff elimination came last night, they will have the off-season to make some decisions. Because the Celtics have the number 1 pick in the draft, they can look forward to reviewing these prospects.

Although the Celtics season is over, they can learn from their playoff experience. Indeed, it has taken them some time to get to the Eastern Conference finals. Of course, they will continue to get better.

At the same time, Brad Stevens is considered one of the top head coaches in the NBA. Furthermore, the team has a lot of young talent and after winning 53 games this season, they can continue to build.

Danny Ainge

In the first place, Danny Ainge saw a lot of positives in this team. Of course, he has a lot of decisions to make in the off-season.

Because many teams like Markelle Fultz of Washington, Jason Tatum (Duke) and Lonzo Ball (UCLA), will Ainge trade the pick? If Ainge cannot entice a team to trade a front running scorer, they should hold onto their number one draft pick. Many think they should pick Fultz.

Since Gordon Hayward played for Stevens at Butler, will Ainge try to land this free agent? Moreover, there will be talks from Isaiah Thomas’ representatives to extend his contract with only one year remaining. Will Ainge look to keep Thomas or not budge on a long-term deal?

Also, the Celtics have a lot of free agents. Many are hoping Ainge will fill these roster spots with better players at less money.

Conclusion

In the same way, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have dominated the sport the last few years. Will their dominance continue? For the Celtics to compete with these teams, Ainge will need at least 3 solid players.

As always, I look forward to your comments on the Celtics playoff elimination and what moves you hope they make in the off-season.
