In today’s hectic world; it is important to find some alone time. When you take some time to recharge; you will feel better about yourself and others around you.
Benefits of Being Alone
When I closed my prior business; I found I had a lot of time by myself. Visit my Lynne’s Fashion Journey post. In the first place, there were days I didn’t know what to do with myself. Although I went through some emotional times after losing my Sister Edie and Sister-in-law, Maria, I’ve learnt the important message of “Life is Short”. With this in mind, I’ve learnt to enjoy the time by myself.
By seeking some quiet time for yourself; you’re carving out time for yourself. When you’re by yourself, you have the chance to get to quiet your mind and meditate. As a writer, I’m on my own most days. During the day, I’m able to research topics and come up with some fresh ideas. In addition, I’m able to spend my time exercising most mornings in the comfort of my home. By having a treadmill in a spare room; I’m able to listen to music while getting in cardiovascular exercise.
Not only does being by yourself, give you the opportunity to get things done; but also to discover things you like or may want to try. Since I have been self-employed since my late 20’s; I have always enjoyed the time to come up with new ideas and think creatively. Another key component for me is I find I do my best work when it is quiet. Moreover, I’m able to work through any problems and more times than not, I come up with a way to resolve a situation.
Ways to Spend Time Alone
Since most of us don’t have time alone; it is important to carve out time to be by ourselves. First and foremost, shut off your cell phone. Also, don’t turn on the television. Unless you need your computer to research some things to bring you pleasure, try not to turn on your computer.
For me, I enjoy waking up early. One thing I enjoy doing in the morning is my exercise routine. Also, I enjoy taking a long leisurely bubble bath. By waking up early, you’re usually able to get a lot done without anyone phoning you. It is important to schedule some alone time for yourself on a regular basis.
When I was single, I would often make plans to travel. By not waiting to see if someone could afford to travel with me; I was able to visit places I wanted to see on my terms. In fact, I used to spend a lot of time alone going to a restaurant for lunch to catch-up on some “Me” time. I was never afraid to say, table for one. From being away from my home office; I was able to get a lot done without having to answer the telephone.
Conclusion
In essence, any time you can spend alone; gives you the time to reflect, meditate, relax, produce and be creative. Whenever you’re alone; you have time to surrender to peace and quiet.
As always, I welcome your comments.
