Autumn Equinox Begins September 23

Autumn Equinox Begins September 23

Autumn Equinox is today. In my opinion, the Fall season is one of the prettiest times of the year. Not only is the weather still warm; but there is also a crispness in the air.

Autumn Equinox

So, if you’re wondering why it is referred to as the equinox; it is simple. At the same time, the word equinox refers to both day and night in terms of the same amount of time. For instance, the nights begin to grow longer and the days shorter.

Fall Foliage

Since many think the leaves change in color due to the cooler weather; this is a myth. Ultimately, the leaves changes in color due to the shorter days and the amount of daylight.

When you’re planning a day trip or to be away for a few days to take in the foliage; be sure to visit my Beautiful Fall Scenic Foliage post for the best places to view the picturesque landscape.

Fall Season Arrival

With Fall’s arrival, now is a fun time of the year to rake up leaves. If you have kids, have them help you and they can also jump into the pile of leaves before you scoop them up into a trash bag.

Now that Fall is here; you can look forward to Halloween and Thanksgiving. Because I live close to Salem, Massachusetts, the heavy traffic has already started. If you’re planning to visit Salem, be sure to check out my Salem Massachusetts Haunted Happenings post in which you will find a list of events.

Of course, you really know the season has started with football season heating up.

In the same fashion, one of my favorite things about the fall season is it’s sweater weather. Be on the lookout for my upcoming Sweater post.

However, if you live in a warmer climate; it is a season of sunshine and sand.

When Autumn equinox hits, it is time to be in the city. Moreover, take a stroll in the streets or a scenic hike where you will find trees and leaves bursting in color.

Celebrate the Autumn equinox with any of the above fun things to do.

As always, I welcome your comments.
