Holiday Jewelry Shopping Guide

Holiday Jewelry Shopping Guide

Whether you’re looking for a gift for Christmas, Hanukkah, or New Years Eve, my holiday jewelry shopping guide will help you.

Holiday Jewelry Shopping

Since the holiday season allows us to show how much we cherish someone, this guide will point you in the right direction.  If you’re looking to determine the best stone, know what to look for. Color, cut, clarity and size determine the price.

  • Diamond – Of course, diamonds are a girl’s best friend.  Additionally, clear white diamonds are the most expensive.  In addition, there are color diamonds.  Also, diamonds are the most expensive gemstone.
  • Emerald –  In the first place, emeralds that come from Columbia are the most expensive.  Because they are naturally rough, rectangular shape is the best cut for this stone.
  • Opal – Given that opals come from Australia primarily, they come in a variety of tone.  Also, black opals are usually the most expensive.
  • Pearl – Pearls are available in a variety of color.  Because they now come from controlled environments, they are much more affordable.
  • Ruby – Ruby jewelry radiates with a bright red hue.
  • Sapphire – Although Sapphire is usually blue in color, fancy sapphires come in several colors. Hence, my engagement ring is a fancy pink.

Valuables

While most fine jewelry is valuable, it is important to take proper steps.  Insure your valuables.  No one wants to lose or have their valuables stolen.

It is important store your jewelry.  Keep your jewelry organized.  Invest in a good jewelry box.  Also, hide expensive pieces. Hang necklaces from hooks.  Separate necklaces to keep from tangling.  In addition, buy trays.  Have a tray for each category.  By keeping bracelets, rings, and necklaces apart, you’re able to see what you have.

Shopping

When shopping for the perfect gift this season, keep in mind how someone will wear the item.  Additionally, know where to get the best price.  Before you shop, know what you want and how much you’re willing to pay.  By doing your homework, you will have an idea on the price.  Also, look on-line and visit multiple stores.

Maintenance

So now you have your jewelry.  Keep a good jewelry cleaner in your home.  I soak my rings in a professional jewelry cleaner, brush and dry with a soft cloth.  To brighten your platinum and gold jewelry, use a polishing cloth.  Also, for diamond jewelry, soak in a gentle cleaner.   If you have silver pieces of jewelry, use polish.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I hope my holiday jewelry shopping guide helps you in finding the right gift this season.
