Clean out your Closet
Since I have a big walk in closet, it is usually an all day project for me. When you’re cleaning your closet, the following are a few suggestions to consider.
- In the first place, make sure all your clothes are clean. If not, launder or take your clothes to the dry cleaners.
- Do your clothes fit?
- How long have you had something? Is it up-to-date? If the style is outdated or no longer something you would wear, time to toss it.
- Have you worn or used this item in the last year?
- Will I wear this again?
So, you see some of the same clothes every time you walk into your closet. Of course, some clothes haven’t been removed from their hangers. Also, some shoes that you liked when you bought them, but haven’t worn as they are no longer comfortable. Additionally, if you keep accessories in your closet, go through them. Whether you have scarves, hats, handbags, or trinkets on shelves, decide if you will use them in the future.
Donate
Your junk or unused items may be someone else’s treasure. For one thing, I make a donation bag every year of items I no longer use and donate to the Salvation Army. You can either go to a drop-off location or arrange for a pick-up.
Also, you can donate to Dress for Success. Especially important are they empower Women by providing professional attire to return to the work place.

Swap Your Clothes
Plan a girls night and exchange clothes. It is easy to have a swap night to plan to buy, sell, or swap clothes. If you have designer items, make sure your swap is of similar value. Also, if you don’t want anything and others want your items, you can offer to sell it for a given value.
Sell
In addition, you can sell designer clothes or valuables. Since there are many options, you can sell items online or through a consignment shop. Shop around for the best place to sell your items.
