Fall School Shopping Tips

Fall School Shopping Tips

Plan your back to school shopping with a list.  Usually, this time of year is about luring the parents, students, and teachers with special offerings.  For the most part, parents spend a good deal of money preparing to outfit their children, purchase office supplies, and various after school programs.

School Shopping

Usually, the best plan begins with the parent and child both involved.   Most teachers and schools provide a list of needed school supplies.    Since school supplies don’t go out of style, it is possible you have a lot of items provided on the list already.   Stick to supplies without gimmicks.  It is better to invest in practical supplies versus those with sayings or super hero’s featured.  Kids’ taste changes.  What is in one day, is out the next day.

Shopping Tips

Some shopping tips to consider before venturing out to the stores.

  • Sort through things from the prior school year.
  • Look for promotions throughout the Summer.
  • Buy Basics in t-shirts and school supplies.
  • Since environmental friendly is a hot topic, get your kids involved in recycling.
  • Take advantage of sales and promotions.
  • Quality over quantity.  Paying for better quality merchandise pays for itself in the long run.  Investing in poorly made merchandise and supplies usually end up costing more in the long run.

New Technology

Calculators, tablets, and computers are some of the most shopped for items.    Children have cellular phones, tablets, and ipads.  Parents and college students are shopping for tech-related items often.  While apparel, supplies, and food are brick and mortar purchases, more parents than ever are spending money on technology for their children.
