Fight Winter Blues

Fight Winter Blues

Fight Winter blues with some sure remedies this season sure to boost your spirits! With the recent sub-zero temperatures; we have experienced North of Boston this February we are looking forward to Groundhog’s Day prediction that Spring will arrive early. Though, I have always slept with my windows open even in the cold snowy winter months; the frigid temperatures have prompted me to wake up and close my windows many nights recently.

Fight Winter Blues

  1. Begin a home project – paint a room, arts and crafts projects. For some ideas, be sure to check out my Arts and Crafts for Adults to Keep you From Going Stir Crazy post.
  2. Clean out your closet – important to do at least twice a year. For tips on getting your closet cleaned up; visit my How to Turn your Messy Closet into an Organized Space post.
  3. Pile clothes/things you no longer need and set it up to donate to a worthwhile charity
  4. Read a book – I’m an avid reader and usually compile a list of books I save onto my Kindle. For some of my favorite books; be sure to visit my Winter Book Recommendations and Cozy Winter Reading Books posts.
  5. Plan a fun activity – Plan something you may want to try or learn, gather a group of people and host a gathering. Since January begins the NFL playoffs, plan to host a Game Day party. For some tips, check out my Game Day Food Ideas post.
  6. Plan a Vacation – Look to vacation in a warmer climate or beach destination location.
  7. Cook – Learn a new recipe or experiment with some new ingredients.  Take a cooking class. For some tips, be sure to visit my Cook Something Bold Day post.

Additional Ways to Fight the Winter Blues

  1. Take a class – Hence, there are so many options. In my opinion, I am a fan of the new paint and sip classes being offered.  It is a fun night out as well as you get to leave with a painting you did during the class.  Of course, I am looking forward to a paper making box project class I signed up for.
  2. Shop – Moreover, this is a fun way to start looking for new styles and additions to your wardrobe and home.  Of course, spring and summer styles are showing up in catalogs and magazines arriving at your home. Or, shop your favorite websites, or a boutique in your area – these are sure fire ways to perk you up.
  3. Movies – With the Oscars coming up I’m sure there are movies you may want to see.  Now would be a good chance to host an indoor movie night with friends.  Or, attend or host an Oscar Party.
  4. Music – There are so many concerts locally as well as listen to some of your favorite music CD’s.  Take a long bath and unwind by listening to your favorite music group. And, if you are ready to create some bath time pampering for yourself; be sure to visit my National Bubble Bath Day post.

Whatever you’re planning, either day or after 5, enjoy doing something you like to fight winter blues.  Inspiration from learning or trying something new may be just the thing to give you a boost. Before long Spring will be here.

Finally, though you may not be a fan of the Winter months; there are many options and things you can do to change. For instance, check out my Winter Bucket List Before Spring Hits post and begin checking things off your list.

As always, I look forward to what you have done to fight the winter blues?

Happy Winter!
