National Donut Day is on the first Friday of June. Hence, some refer to this holiday as Doughnut Day.
National Donut Day
In the first place, the holiday was created by the Salvation Army. At the same time, the holiday started in Chicago in 1938 in honor of their members who served donuts and coffee to the soldiers in World War 1.
In the same way, Donut Day was a way to raise awareness and raise funds for the Salvation Army’s activities on the battle ground.

Childhood and Dunkin Donut
When I was a little girl, my Dad opened a Dunkin Donut shop on Broadway, Revere with my Uncle, Label. In the first place, they had to attend Dunkin Donut University in Quincy, Massachusetts to learn how to make the donuts and run the business.
So, every four hours, any donuts, not sold had to be thrown out. My Uncle would telephone the local churches and charitable organizations to let them know they were welcome to come and get them.
In fact, today the donuts are done at a central location and delivered to each shop approximately once a day. Of course, every time I walk into a Dunkin Donut shop, it brings me back to memories of my early childhood.
