Lynne’s Fashion Journey began when I was a little girl. So, my love of fashion started when I would go into my Mother’s closet; and I dressed up in her shoes, jewelry, and shawls.
Lynne’s Fashion Journey
After owning a Women’s Contemporary Wholesale Sales Office for the last 24 years; my journey in that genre is ending and I want to share my story with you.
When I first started in the Industry in 1991; it was an exciting time.
Of course, there was plenty of energy!
When I went to New York for the trade shows in the fashion industry; it was exciting. Moreover, I loved seeing the models walking down the various rows at the shows. In addition, I also enjoyed working with the enthusiastic store owners and buyers.
Moreover, the days left me with an unbelievable high.
I continued to reach for the stars!
Because the wholesale fashion industry is met with Buyers, Owners, Designers, and Manufacturers who work at a fast pace; the days, months, and years go by in a blur. You’re always working a season ahead.
As I grew in the Wholesale Industry; I became an Employer. I hired other Sales Representatives and Marketing Assistants.
Of course, the position of a Sales Representative was an important role in my Business. It required traveling locally and throughout the territory on a daily basis.
Moreover, it was important to build strong relationships with the Store Owners and Buyers.
Also, to ensure flawless placement and client satisfaction; I created a website to familiarize Store Owner/Buyers with various designers and brands.
2013 thru Present
In 2013, I started seeing a decline in the overall number of Retailers and the Owner/Buyers attending the Trade Shows.
Meanwhile, many smaller Designers didn’t have the financial backing. In addition, many smaller manufacturers didn’t realize the time, energy, and marketing required to build a brand; nor the level of expenses associated with this.
In 2014, my top two lines were bought out by a large corporation. Consequently, I made the mistake of thinking I could replace a well-known Manufacturer/Designer with smaller manufacturers. Indeed, it was a decision that haunted me over the course of 2014. At the end of the year; I made the decision to close my Sales Office. It was an emotional decision met with many sleepless nights and a lot of trepidation.
As I continue my transition to become a successful Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle Blogger and Freelance Writer; I’m looking forward to this journey.
Lynne’s Fashion Journey may be ending in operating a wholesale office, but my love of fashion will forever continue.
ONE DOOR OPENS AND ONE DOOR CLOSES
Each day reaffirms my decision that I made the right one for myself.
In conclusion, I am looking forward to the next chapter in my career.
As always, I welcome your comments.
