Fashion Calendar

Fashion Calendar for the new year has begun.  With the end of the Summer Season and beginning of Fall, Fashion Week has recently ended in London, Milan, and New York.  Designers are out showing their Spring and Summer Collections for 2016.

Collections are being seen on the runway, their showrooms and trade shows internationally.  I have seen a lot of press in Newspapers, Entertainment Shows, Fashion Magazines and Websites on the highlights and standouts for Spring and Summer 2016.   Also I am in no hurry to blog about the trends.   Additionally, I want to see what catches on in the Stores for Fall, Winter and Holiday this year.

The upside-down world of Fashion has Fall and Winter Seasons disappearing before they’ve actually started.  We are seeing runways shows and Trade Shows all over the Globe.  One of the premier shows in the United States is the Fashion Coterie.  It takes place beginning Saturday, September 19th thru Monday, September 21st.  Were the Fashion Buyers and Store Owners truly ready to look at Spring and Summer merchandise and place their orders?  Labor Day Holiday was later than usual.  The Jewish Holidays were earlier than years past.  I thought the trade shows were poor timing for many individuals and companies.

The rush of the Fashion Calendar has many wondering in the Industry why the Trade Shows have to immediately follow Fashion Week.   I think it is important for Store Buyers and Owners to see what their customers are responding to and shopping for at the start of the Fall season.   Let’s see what trends are here to stay and what has already disappeared.  Slow down – let’s not rush right into another Season.

With many new trends popping up weekly, is it really important to fast forward the Fashion Industry 1 to 2 seasons ahead?  Let’s slow down fashion and promote Designers locally and organically without being beholden to the Fashion Calendar.

As a Blogger, I’ve changed my approach to the Fashion Calendar and am now following styles, stories, and trends relevant right now.  Let’s take a moment to enjoy fashion presently and live in the moment.
