New York Fashion Week designer shows have ended and now the trade shows have begun. There has already been a lot of press on the last 9 days of shows.
New York Fashion Week
The business has been rough in the fashion industry over the last several years. One of the problems I personally have seen over the last several years is there are too many Designers and Trade Shows. The Fashion Industry works at a fast pace. So Winter isn’t over and already new collections are out for Fall/Winter 2016. Many attendees want what they see right away. To have to wait several months when there are constant changes in the world definitely affects the brands. The chatter I’ve heard recently is many of the Shows were flat. There wasn’t a lot of excitement or newness.
Designers
Some Designers who have received positive press early on are:
- Rodarte – The fashions are imaginative with a lot of emotion.
- Marc Jacobs – Fashions were Gothic. Lady Gaga walked the runway – need I say more.
- Hood by Air – I have to admit I wasn’t familiar with these Companies’ designs. Upon reading about the collection, I am looking forward to seeing more. The collection was based on twisting and tweaking streetwear while taking on a tough issue in the refugee crisis. I look forward to seeing how the Designer’s inspiration translates to fashions that will hit the stores in the future.
- Alexander Wang – His fall collection was about pushing buttons. He showed in a church with Pole Dancers.
- Rag and Bone – Men’s and Women’s fashions were shown side by side. Word is they complimented each other. The parka’s are receiving a lot of press. We will have to wait until they hit the Retailers to purchase.

Trade Shows
The trade shows and Showroom appointments follow the runway and tent shows. The Buyers will be the final judge by deciding what collections to purchase for next Fall and Winter. Personally, I think who can predict what will work in several seasons. Also, Winter isn’t over. Moreover, I would like to see a fashion moment where collections are current.

As a Blogger, I’m about the hear and now moment and want to see what fashions Women and Men are wearing this Spring and Summer. I’m just starting my shopping for the Spring and Summer months. I recently began ordering several shoes to wear and will plan a shopping trip over the next month to some of my favorite boutiques and specialty stores. Of course, I will also be shopping online. Amazon has been inspirational with its Spring and Summer Fashions. They have been advertising in major fashion publications and have hit on all the trends.
