Fashion Resolutions

Fashion resolutions that we may have made in 2016 are to participate in a fitness program or hit the gym.  Perhaps we want to eat healthier, have our clothes fit better, update our wardrobe or get out of a fashion rut.

Today I’m going to talk about some of my personal fashion resolutions.  Every year my resolutions are usually the same.  I’m going to eat healthier, work out more, and clean out the clutter in my closet and bureau drawers.

I started the year off working out regularly.  I’m usually on the treadmill for 30 minutes most mornings and do some floor exercises before getting into my routine.  I try to meet with my Personal Trainer, Zack at Fitness Together at least once a week.  I’m hoping to increase this to twice a week, but in the winter months I tend to hibernate indoors.  As for eating healthier, I tend to do the best when I’m cooking.  I’ve been stocking my refrigerator with more vegetables.  See my Heart Awareness Month for more on some of the pasta’s I’ve made from vegetables.

As for cleaning out my closet and bureau – well, I’m just getting started.  With the recent snow, I’ve finally started tackling my walk-in closet.  I’ve started a donation bag and have already added several things to this pile.  Usually, my Niece comes over 1-2 times a year assisting me with cleaning out my closet and drawers.  She is usually a good source of inspiration for me as she holds up something and makes funny style comments.   I tend to be sentimental about a piece of clothing that I have a hard time parting ways with and with my Niece’s humor I’m usually able to let it go.  We all need to ditch certain items of clothing.  With styles and trends changing it is important to part ways with any article of clothing we haven’t worn in several years.

Fashion Resolutions I Made

Some fashion resolutions I’ve made for the upcoming year are to spend wisely.  Since I have a shoe obsession, I usually try to put my money into a few new pairs of shoes each season and I love adding a handbag each season.  I find putting my money into something more expensive and of designer quality usually lasts longer and bodes well over time.  Investment pieces usually keep their value.

Take a risk in your fashion choices.  Try a new trend.  See my Print blog post recently for some great styles to try.  Visit my Nothing to wear post for some suggestions to add to your wardrobe.  Take stock of your wardrobe –  your basic staples – jeans, leggings, knits, jackets, and of course, shoes.    Once you’ve taken inventory of your wardrobe, you will know what styles you may want to add.

Fashion resolutions should be something fun to look forward to.  What fashion resolutions have you made? Any suggestions you would like to share.
