Holiday Dinner Recipes

When you are looking for holiday dinner recipes for a family gathering or party you are hosting; I have a few ideas for you. Indeed, the festive season is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. So, are you ready to start cooking?

Holiday Dinner Recipes

Typically, running around decorating and shopping can cause stress. But, it doesn’t have to.

This year, I have a few recipes that are surprisingly easy to make.

Meanwhile, if you are hosting the Feast of the Seven Fishes; check out my Seven Fishes Holiday Celebration post.

Pomegranate Chicken

Holiday Dinner Recipes

Ingredients

  • 6 – 8 Boneless Chicken pounded.
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1/4 tablespoon of Honey
  • 1 cup Pomegranate Juice
  • 1 cup of Pomegranate Molasses – I recommend seeding the pomegranate.
  • Black ground pepper
  • Pinch of Sea Salt

Directions

First, preheat your oven to 375 – 400 degrees.

Next, mix the Pomegranate juice, molasses, honey, and balsamic vinegar in a mixing bowl.  Place chicken and all of the ingredients into a pan and let it marinate in your refrigerator for at least one hour. The longer you wait, the juicier your chicken will be.

In addition, add some ground black pepper and a pinch of sea salt.

Transfer all ingredients to a baking pan and cook for approximately 60 minutes. However, I recommend checking the chicken to make sure it doesn’t dry up or get crispy.

Cider Glazed Ham

Holiday Dinner Recipes

When you are looking for a dish that is ideal to serve during the holidays; I recommend a cider-glazed ham.

Ingredients

  • Sliced ham
  • Apple cider (this depends on how many guests you are serving)  I recommend 2 – 3 cups
  • 1/3 cup Maple Syrup
  • 1 – 2 Tablespoons of Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Cup of water
  • 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar (See my recommendation below)
  • 1 Tablespoon of either Apple or White Vinegar
  • Black ground pepper
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Cup of sweet cooking wine
  • Cloves

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Next, pour the apple cider, sweet cooking wine, and water into the bottom of the pan.

While your ham is baking; prepare your glaze. In a saucepan, pour a little apple cider, apple or white vinegar, brown sugar, and spices.

Bake for approximately 2 hours. When the ham is done baking; add the glaze and toss the ham back into your oven for another 30 – 40 minutes. Meanwhile, make sure your ham is carmelized before removing it from the oven.

In addition, you may want to add any pan drippings to your ham.

Also, if you have any leftovers, store them in your refrigerator in a tightly sealed container. Make sandwiches or add the leftover ham to your soup.

Creamy Mashed Potatoes

_________________________________________________________________________________ Directions

Indeed, potatoes are a “Must” for your holiday dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 -2 Pounds of Yukon gold Potatoes
  • 3 – 4 Tablespoons of Light Butter
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup of 2% Milk
  • Ground black pepper
  • Pinch of sea salt

_________________________________________________________________________________

Directions

First and foremost, I recommend placing your potatoes in a pan filled with hot water. Next, boil your potatoes until they are tender.

At the same time, begin combining light butter, milk, and spice in a pan.

So, once your potatoes are tender, put them in a spot where it is easy for you to mash them. Mash your potatoes until they are smooth. Next, pour all your ingredients from the saucepan to the potatoes. In addition, you may want to add a little more butter, and milk or you can even add some cream cheese to your potatoes.

Holiday Dinner Recipe Ingredients Recommendations

Of course, most people are trying to eat healthier. With this in mind, I recommend using the following ingredients for any recipe that butter, milk, or sugar is called for.

My go-to ingredient I use for any recipe that requires butter is Land O Lakes Light Butter. And, for any recipe that requires milk: I typically buy 1% or 2% milk.

Truvia Stevia Leaf

For a healthy sweetness, this brown sweetener is the perfect ingredient to reduce sugar without losing the sweet taste.

Also, this sugar is ideal to use in your coffee or any recipe that requires brown sugar.
