Celebrate National Chicken Month

National Chicken Month has started. Are you ready to celebrate eating chicken at home and at restaurants? So, today’s post will also let you in on some chicken facts as well as recipes to try at home.

National Chicken Month

First and foremost, the National Chicken Council has gathered many of the major poultry producers to use this month for offering promotions and coupons. Since the 1970’s, the Council has evolved and has implemented programs on disease, nutrition and improvements for the way chickens are bred.

For over two decades, the United States Department of Agriculture has been modernizing its poultry inspection process. At the same time, this program has helped in making the safety of chickens as well as the workers handling poultry a priority.

Indeed, chicken is one of the most popular food choices. For a boneless, skinless piece of chicken, you are getting 31 grams of protein. Moreover, the fat from a whole piece of chicken is only 3.6 grams and has 165 calories. In addition, chicken has a low amount of sodium and is a good source of Vitamin B6 and Phosphorus.

For chicken lovers everywhere, get ready to enjoy your favorite poultry dish. Due to the popularity of chicken, there are coupons, chicken deals and discounts from many restaurants and fast food places. No matter how you like your chicken, you can find it baked, fried, grilled,, stuffed and seasoned.

Are you looking for a good deal? Well, don’t fret as you can find some great specials at some of your favorite places.

Since September is a great month to try some new recipes, I’m going to share a couple of my favorites for you to try.

In my opinion, one of the most delicious chicken recipes to make is a Chicken Piccata. First, slice the chicken. Although many like to use flour on both sides, I skip this ingredient. All you need to do, is to saute your chicken in light olive oil. As your chicken is cooking, add in chicken stock, fresh lemon, lemon juice, garlic and capers. Add a pinch of salt and pepper. If you like your food a little bit spicy, kick up this dish by adding some red pepper flakes.

Another simple, yet delicious chicken recipe to make is Garlic Chicken. All you need is chicken, olive oil and fresh garlic. Saute the chicken on each side until it is getting a little bit brown. Add minced garlic. I like to add a lot of garlic to make the chicken extra tangy. Finally, add a pinch of sea salt and black ground pepper and voila, you will have the perfect meal.

So, let’s celebrate National Chicken Month with making some of our favorite protein meals. Are you ready to hatch your favorite recipe?

As always, I welcome your comments.
