January is Self-Love Month

January is Self-Love Month! So, it is time to start the year off by having good self-esteem and happiness. Although not everyone has good self-esteem; it’s time to take the necessary steps to build a better life.

When you think about the resolutions you made for the New Year; you may have thought about losing weight or changing something about yourself. But, how many times do your resolutions slip through the cracks in the first month? Check out my New Year’s Plans and Resolutions post for some tips on living your best life.

Since so many of us get caught up in things happening with our family, friends, or troubles in our personal life; it’s time to appreciate yourself.

Ways to Have More Self-Love

Because I have personally had things that have happened in my life over the last decade; I have worked on my mantras and taking better care of myself.

So, the following are a few of my suggestions to practice.

  • First and foremost, don’t compare yourself to others. Each person is different.
  • Self-awareness – When you know more about yourself; you will have a better understanding of what changes you should make.
  • In addition, you shouldn’t worry about what other people say about you. Indeed, you cannot make everyone like you.
  • Your value is in the way you present yourself to others. Next time you look in the mirror, compliment yourself. Visit my Compliment Yourself – National Compliment Your Mirror Day post for tips on liking what you see.
  • Trust yourself. Since many people question things they do regularly; it’s time to do what you think is right. Although what you decide may not work out the way you hope for; it allows you to make changes to live a better life.
  • Be mindful.
  • Self-care – Moreover, it is important to do things for yourself. For a few minutes each day; find something you enjoy doing.  By taking a few minutes each day it gives you an opportunity to be the best version of yourself.

Why Self-Love is Important

Of course, the key to loving yourself is to have happiness and high self-esteem. But, not everyone has confidence in themselves. With that being said, it is essential to have compassion for others. Meanwhile, the more compassion you have; the more harmony you will have in your own life.

Indeed, not everyone we interact with is good for our mental health. Hence, it is essential you remove yourself from toxic situations. For example, if someone brings drama and negativity into your life; it is liberating to remove yourself from that situation.

Put Yourself First

Moreover, if you are the type of person who puts others before yourself; it is time to put yourself first. Whether you enjoy doing something active or prefer to spend some quiet time; it is important to find what helps you to put your best self forward.

So, every day, find something positive. If you wake up feeling not yourself; think of something that can turn your day around. Moreover, it is okay to share your feelings. The more you understand yourself; the better you will feel.

Make Changes to Love Yourself More

How many people aren’t happy with themselves?

However, the key is to learn more about yourself.

Of course, one of the best things you can do for yourself is accept the good and bad. Though this isn’t something that happens overnight; it is the journey of a lifetime.

When you open yourself up to new possibilities and make changes; you are creating something beautiful to experience.
