MAFS Boston Decision Day Season 14 Recap

MAFS Boston Spoilers – Meet the Couples January 2022

MAFS Boston spoilers are here! Similar to last season the experts matched 10 singles. However, over the last several seasons; many of the couples ended up getting divorced.

MAFS Boston Spoilers

Though it has been over four years since the show was filmed in Boston; there was one successful couple who is still together today. To read more about the last time the show was filmed in Boston; check out my Married at First Sight Boston Finale post. Though 2 of the 3 couples decided to stay married on Decision Day in Season 6; today, only one of the couples is still together.

Since last season, none of the couples stayed married; will this season be different? To read more on how last season turned out; visit my MAFS Houston Decision Day Reunion Recap post.

In my opinion, over the last few years; the experts have made some bad decisions in matching some of these couples. Was it for ratings? Or, did they really feel they had the right individuals paired up?

MAFS  Boston – Meet the Couples

At the same time; this season will feature the following 5 couples.

  • Alyssa and Chris – So, both Alyssa and Chris are in their 30s, Alyssa has spent her time saving animals that has not left a lot of time for dating; and her last relationship left her heartbroken. Chris has had back-to-back long-term relationships and neither has been the right one to go the distance. Will this relationship be the one that remains long-term?
  • Jasmina and Michael – Jasmina is 29 years old and has had a career in early childhood. She is hoping the experts find her someone to begin her own love story. Though she has seen infidelities in both her family and her relationships; she is ready to move on and find her person. Michael is 28 years old and has tried many different dating apps. After he has a conversation with his sister; she signs him up for MAFS Boston. Moreover, he is hopeful; the experts will find him his person.
  • Lindsey and Mark – Lindsey is 34 years old and has always wanted what her grandparents have – a marriage of more than 70 years. At the same time, Lindsey has complete faith that the experts will find her the person she is supposed to be with. Mark is 37 years old and has wanted marriage forever. Though, he has tried many dating sites; he hasn’t been lucky in finding the right woman. Also, his nickname is “Mark the Shark” and he is hoping he will get the answer to his question, “Mrs. Shark, Where are you”?

MAFS Boston – Two Other Couples

  • Katina and Olajuwon – Katina in 29 years old and has spent the last 2 years discovering herself and is now ready to take the next step in her life in being a wife and mother. Olajuwon is 29 years old and admits he was a former playboy. Also, Olajuwon went to college with Jephyte Pierre who shared his own experience in finding his forever person on MAFS Boston, Season 6.
  • Noi and Stephen – Noi is 33 years old who finds love too quickly and has had some trouble in the past. Though she has felt let down in the past; she is hoping the experts get it right. Stephen is 38 years old and is hoping to find a love story like his grandparents have had for the last 60 years And, to top it off he learned his grandparents marriage was arranged. Hopefully, this relationship will be as successful as his grandparents.

MAFS Boston Spoilers

Since MAFS continues to be popular; will the experts have better luck this season?

Before the show even begins tonight; it has already come out that two of the couples say “yes” on decision day.

  • Lindsay and Mark stay together.
  • Also, Katina and Olajuwon stay together.
  • Jasmine and Michael – Jasmine develops a nice relationships with Michael’s sisters. However, from the information I have received to date; it looks like this couple decides to get a divorce

  1. you say that 2 couples stay together on decision day,
but you word it one couple stays together and one couples stay married?
why do you word it different??

    1. Hi Bonita,
Good point as I have changed it to they stay together. Though many couples decide to stay married in this series – look at what happened last season. Two of the couples who decided to stay married are no longer together and this has happened many other seasons in the past.
I will be adding to this post in the near future so I hope you continue to connect and comment.
      Thanks
      Lynne

  2. My wife and I, 2 big fans of MAFS, were extremely disappointed with the first “Afterparty” segment last Wednesday. One participant, Lindsey, made the type of reference I have not heard on a network show since the days over 40 years ago on sitcoms like “All in the Family.”
She described the appearance of her new husband Mark on their wedding day as a “guido,” a derogatory ethnic slur for a lower-class Italian male. I could not believe the producers of MAFS chose not to edit that out, thereby confirming the total lack of character and class of this individual.
My wife of 26 years is of Italian descent, and proud of it, and you can only imagine how she felt after hearing that word.
In the first several episodes of MAFS this season, it is quite apparent that Lindsey, who is at best a highly-flawed individual, will make the 3 “experts’ on the show who chose her look really bad. This choice is even worse than Chris from 2 seasons ago, and I never thought that was possible, especially for a female.
Now you say that Mark, who seems like a really nice guy, and Lindsey both say yes on decision day.
That appears to make this whole social experiment a sham, because the reality of them staying in a long-term marriage is slim and none.

    1. Hi Tom,

First and foremost, thank you for reading my post and sharing your feedback. As a Blogger and Writer, the content of this post was sharing some of the spoilers. Though I utilize several sources for my information. Like you, I agree with you and your wife that Lindsey’s character comes across badly and I’m surprised the source I used reported they both say “Yes” on decision day. However, when the cameras stop rolling, they may not still be together. I have seen many couples say “yes” on decision day and not stay together once the cameras stopped rolling.

Over the last several seasons, I have been disappointed with the MAFS Experts and I think they have made some very poor matches. Quite frankly, out of thousands of people who apply to be on this show, I would think they could find better individuals who are really looking for a partner to build a life with.

Certainly, when someone uses inappropriate and derogatory ethnic language, this is inappropriate and a problem for the producers. I would love to help in contacting the network with you. Let’s work together.
      Best,
      Lynne

      1. Meagan,

First, thanks for reading my post and I had to edit one of your words to keep things clean on my Website.

In response to your commment, that actually isn’t the case. The process goes as follows: The casting is done over a relatively short period of time. The applicants and contestants spend to,e with the experts, undergoing psychological evaluation and filling out questionnaires. This process is approximately 6 months and then a final casting of 4 – 6 weeks.

Ultimately, the show’s experts present their matches to Kinetic Content and A&E, and the couples they present are the people they move forward with.

I hope the above clears up the process

        Best,
        Lynne

    2. I found the use of an anti-Italian slur extremely problematic as well. Being from the Midwest, I hadn’t heard anyone say this in real life until I moved to the east coast after undergrad, since this particular epithet isn’t said much in my area. However, I was shocked when I saw Lindsay not only say it, but say it so casually, especially because she identified her own ethnic background to Mark at the wedding.

MAFS has become a train wreck on multiple levels, but these last few season seem to be about destroying the lives of perfectly good people, such as Paige in the biggest debacle of last season, for the sake of a television show.

      1. Chene,
Thanks for taking the time to read my article and your comment. Sadly, there are ignorant people everywhere, and early on, I’m not a fan of Lindsey but this is TV so there may be some good editing going on behind the scenes.
        Best,
        Lynne

    3. Tom, i don’t know where you live but I’m originally from Brooklyn and Staten Island NY and I married an Italian man who was a “guido” and I can tell you he was not a “lower class man”. Guido was a popular term back in the 80’s and I have never heard an Italian think it was derogatory. It was more a term of how they looked. White suits, black silk socks, pinky rings and slicked back hair. Now in the 2020’s the style has changed and Mark does remind me of a Guido, but not in a bad way. Its the Hair, tight shirts and his mannerisms.
Most girls in SI loved “guidos”. I don’t think that Lindsay meant it as derogatory.

      1. Wendy,
My name is Lynne and Bombshell Whims is my Website. TOm made a comment on this post and I agree with your comments above – everyone is different. What one person finds offensive, another person may find funny.
        Best,
        Lynne

      2. I totally agree with this…i have lived in queens..close to Brooklyn border…never thought of it as derogatory..just a look.

  3. I am angry at the 2nd after party why did bill cosby daughter the host have to give a history lesson about blacks not being able to be married
I thought this was MAFS NOT BLACK HISTORY while keisha is at it why not comment about her tv dad assaulting women huh.

    1. Jamie Otis was replaced with Keisha Knight Pulliam and I must have missed what she said, but overall, I think Keisha brought a lot of energy to the show and kept it going. I have only seen her on host 1 show so far, so I will need to see more of her to make my decision.

      1. I really miss Jamie Otis! Her professionalism, grace & charm kept everyone focused. After all, she was one of the successful marriages & has 2 children after she found the “ love of her life”.

    2. I am not a fan of Keshia Knight Pulliam hosting (I miss Jamie Otis) but I thought it should be pointed out that she is not the daughter of Bill Cosby. She played the role of his daughter Rudy on The Cosby Show.

      1. Jillian,
Thanks for the information on Keshia but I’m not too familiar with her background or prior roles she has played on sitcoms. I was responding to someone’s comment but like you, I liked Jamie Otis too.
        Best,
        Lynne

    1. Lisa,
What about her? Did you read the entire article I wrote as just in case you missed it, I have cut and pasted this for your reference – Because the season is just starting; I will be updating this post regularly; so be sure to bookmark this post.
      Best,
      Lynne

  4. Great article! Thank you for being so thorough. It breaks my heart the way Alyssa is treating Chris and not even giving him a chance. Shows she is a very shallow person. One article says that he is having confidence issues and hates smiling now due to the big deal she and others made about his teeth not being “perfect”. I think that’s horrible and hope it’s not true. I hope he finds happiness, he seems like a great guy. I will be watching for your updates. Thank you:)

    1. Laurie,
Thanks for your comment on the article. I totally agree with you as I haven’t been a fan of Alyssa even before the wedding. 10 Wedding dresses? She is superficial and I think the experts did a really bad job on this match and didn’t dig deep enough as I think Alyssa’s body language is awful – I hope Chris has this marriage annulled.
      Best,
      Lynne

  5. I’m watching the show and comparing to the bachelor, when producers see things aren’t going as planned they are letting the cast know they are watching and the rules change by the drama portrayed. Clayton took back a ride and sent more women home away from the rose ceremonies thus far than anyone else. Why are the experts not showing up and addressing Chris and Alyssa? I want to see relationships have go the 8 weeks good or bad. If she’s checked out don’t let Chris Alyssa and their family be subjected to this week after week. Revoke her free meal ticket and send her home. Give Chris another chance if he wants it. The experts know after hours and hours of examination the deal breakers and red flags. If she said bad teeth first and they ignored it? Shame on them. People come here trusting the experts, she’s not cut out for this show. Sleeping in separate rooms? She tells production she’s not feeling safe around him? Where I come from a woman says she’s not feeling safe it’s dealt with immediately, they’re letting this go on for ratings? Baffled.

    1. Edward,
Thank you for taking the time to write an insightful comment on both MAFS and The Bachelor. The experts definitely mismatched Alyssa and Chris. Regardless of Alyssa perhaps making it known to the Experts her type, you have to wonder about someone who buys 10 wedding dresses. Though there is a lot of editing on these shows, it comes across (at least to me), that Alyssa really isn’t giving Chris the time of day and isn’t interested. I’m wondering why she even went on the honeymoon.
As for Clayton’s season, I like him so far and liked that he took back a rose.
I hope you subscribe to my blog and look forward to interacting with you in the future.
      Best,
      Lynne

  6. I liked Steve and Noi from the beginning. Typically the couples that have stayed together over the long haul (at least 1+ years), are not so focused on the physical traits in the very beginning. Attraction is part of marriage, of course, but not the only thing. They “date” each other, build memories, face challenges, and really get to know the other. If Steve can get the employment thing figured out soon, whether he wants full or part-time, and get settled in, the rest of their plans together (family, etc.) will fall into place. That’s my take. :-)

    1. Melanie,
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
I also like Steve and Noi and agree that the couples that have stayed together such as Jamie and Doug take their time to develop a relationship. Attraction grows if you have things in common and are on the same page on a lot of important things, chances are the relationship can grow. However, if there is just a physical attraction but other things missing, chances are the relationship won’t last long-term. Like others that have commented, I think Alyssa is making an impulsive decisions based on looks without giving Chris a chance.
I hope you subscribe to my Site and I look forward to interacting with you again.
      Best,
      Lynne

  7. I can’t stand Alyssa, she is trying to convince viewers what a great person she is! I think she is a disgusting, selfish bitch, who should have never been selected to take part in this show!!

    1. Janet,
I totally agree with you. I find people who usually keep saying they’re a nice person over and over again, usually aren’t that nice. I’m still perplexed on why the Experts picked her and why she has so much animosity to Chris.
I look forward to connecting with you again.
      Best,
      Lynne
