Matt James Final Rose
When the season first started, there was a lot of speculation that he chose Rachel Kirkconnell. Also, there have been reports over the last few months that Rachel liked a photo of a confederate flag as well as a photo of her at a Plantation Themed Ball.
Since Bri gets eliminated after the fantasy dates; Michelle and Rachel are his final 2 women.
Matt James Final Dates
With both women meeting Matt’s mother and brother; the final dates take place.
So, Matt’s first date was with Michelle. On their final date, they repel down a building to reach a heart at the bottom to have drinks and spend time together.
In my opinion, Matt clearly isn’t ready to be engaged at the end. When they get together in the evening; Matt lets Michelle know that he doesn’t think he can get there.
Due to his uncertainty, Matt cancels his final date with Rachel. Surprisingly, he does meet with Neil Lane and he selects a ring.
He sends Rachel an apology note and asks her to meet him by the lake.
Though, Matt’s final rose goes to Rachel; he decides not to propose. However, he does tell her, he is in love with her. So, they leave together as a couple on a horse-drawn carriage ride with them riding off to the sunset.
Matt James and Rachel Kirkconnell Break-up – After the Final Rose
Accordingly, there were photos posted all over the internet of Rachel at a plantation-themed party. As a result of the photos that were leaked; former Bachelorette, Rachel Lindsay interviewed Chris Harrison which resulted in Chris stepping down for the After the Final Rose.
Since Chris Harrison steps aside for After the Final Rose; Emmanuel Acho replaces him.
Michelle speaks to Emmanuel about her feelings for Matt; and her disappointment that she felt she didn’t get the closure she was hoping for. In addition, Emmanuel asked Michelle how she felt about all the controversy that has come out and her thoughts. Michelle says she believes Rachel has a good heart; but, she feels there is a lack of education.
When Matt comes on stage; Michelle lets him know she asked the producers to reach out to him and ask him for a few minutes of his time for closure before leaving Pennsylvania. Though Matt didn’t meet with her; he did apologize.
In essence, Matt shares this season was hard as it brought out a lot of issues going on in the country. Hence, diversity and social justice.
Next, Rachel is brought on stage to speak to Emmanuel about what the last few months have been like. And, then Matt is brought back on stage. For the first time since their break-up; they face each other. Rachel apologizes profusely to Matt for hurting him.
In summary, the new Bachelorette is introduced. Ultimately, the franchise chose 2 separate Bachelorettes. First, Katie’s season will begin in the summertime; and Michelle will begin her journey to find love in the fall.
