Paper Bowl Class

Paper Bowl Class

So this past Saturday, I participated in a Paper Bowl Class at the Paper Source in Lynnfield Massachusetts.  Since I’ve always enjoyed arts and crafts projects; I enjoyed taking a class to unwind.   One of the first things I did in the class was select approximately 30 shapes of paper for my bowl.

See featured image of class table below set up with the papers to choose from.  The various papers to choose from were cut into circles, flower circles, strips and smaller circles.  You were able to pick other papers and make it your own.  The Paper Source carries a huge display of papers in all colors and textures.  I was happy with the selection available.  I also purchased a few different papers that I wanted to use for my design.

The bowl can be done two different ways.  The Instructor taught the class with two different techniques.  The first one was blowing up a balloon and putting the balloon into a sturdy paper cup (see featured cup displayed in photo above).  The second technique was bringing a silver bowl (any size) and wrapping it in saran paper and putting that in the paper cup.   Once the bowls were inserted into the cup, we applied glue to a small section at a time and to the back of the paper being applied to the bowl with a small foam brush.

This was a fun and relaxing project that had me hooked.  I loved the idea of picking various colorations to create my paper bowl.    No two come out the same as everyone seemed to go with different color schemes.  This is an enjoyable arts and craft project to make.  You don’t have to be artistic or have a special skill to make a paper bowl.  The only thing differently I would do when making a future paper bowl or paper project is to wear latex gloves.  When working with glue it tends to get sticky and definitely wreaks havoc on your manicure.

Finished Paper Bowl

The finished product is beautiful and is a perfect accessory to display in your home.  Other usages for the bowl could be for your bathroom or vanity, desk, bedroom, kitchen or living room.  Also one of the Woman in my class was going to make a handle for her bowl and fill it with gifts for her Mother for an Easter Gift.    Creating a special bowl for your home, as a gift or to display is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening.  Furthermore,  I would highly recommend taking this class at the Paper Source in Lynnfield.  The Store Manager and Staff are very accommodating and make shopping and classes a fun activity.  Some of the finished products are below.

In fact, I’m looking forward to try to replicate this project on my own.  In conclusion, I look forward to participating in future Paper Source classes.
