Red Sox Dominance Against Yankees 2018

Red Sox Dominance Against Yankees 2018

Red Sox dominance against the New York Yankees ended in a four game sweep in the wee hours of the morning. Before this series, the Yankees were 5 -4 in games thus far. But after the Sox swept the Yankees in four, the Red Sox have the advantage and have now gone ahead of the Yankees in their series with an 8 – 5 advantage.

Red Sox Dominance

As the Red Sox headed into the All Star Break, their record was 68 – 30. Since returning from the break, their record is 79 – 34. No doubt, this season has been magical to date. In fact, it all started with the Sox replacing John Farrell with Alex Cora to lead the team as their new manager. Red Sox Dominance Against New York Yankees

With Chris Sale going on the 10 day disabled list; there were concerns on how the Sox would fare in their fourth match-up against the New York Yankees. By the second inning, the Yankees were leading by a score of 4 – 0 in Game 1. However, the Sox climbed back into the game and by the fourth inning, the Sox were leading the Yankees by 10 -4. The final box score was 15  – 7.

For Game 2, Rick Porcello pitched a gem. In fact, the only run Porcello gave up was a home run in the third inning. And, the final score was 4 – 1. For Game 3, the Red Sox had a lead of 4 – 0 before Craig Kimbrel came in to close out the game. So Kimbrel came in and recorded the first two outs. And than, he gave up back-to-back doubles and loaded the bases. Finally, he was able to record the last out and the box score was 4 – 1.

For the final game of the series, I was a little bit more antsy. Because the Yankees have had David Price’s number over the years, I wasn’t sure how this game would play out. However, Price came out looking the pitcher we needed him to be and was dominant before Heath Hembree came in to relieve him. When Hembree came in, he gave up four runs in the 7th inning.

Luckily, the Sox were able to even up the score in the bottom of the 9th inning before going into extra innings. Andrew Benintendi  won the game for the Sox in the 10th inning. And once again, the Red Sox dominance showed.

After sweeping the Yankees, are the Sox unbeatable?

As always, I welcome your comments.
