Red Sox Open Their 2022 Season
Indeed, every year brings new rules to professional sports. And, this year is no different. At the same time; this year’s lockout of 99 days focus was on the salaries of the players.
In addition to the economics of the game; one change is the National League will now have a Designated Hitter. In my opinion, this should have happened a long time ago.
Also, in 2023, a pitchers clock will be used as well as there will be a ban on defensive shifts. Furthermore, an automatic ball/strike zone will exist with bases being larger. But, this isn’t until next year.
Additionally, players’ uniforms will now feature advertisements on patches on jerseys and helmets.
Red Sox Open Their 2022 Season – Postseason and Rule Changes
Now, the postseason will expand to 12 teams.
Moreover, in extra innings games; there won’t be a man automatically put on second base.
So, if you are wondering why there are always changes in the rules; it’s simple. Rules change to improve sports. But more importantly, rule changes can also speed up the game to keep the fans interested.
In fact, rules change all the time in professional sports to improve the organizations, athletes and fan experiences.
Red Sox Open their 2022 Season Today – Will you be Tuning in?
After an interesting start to the beginning of the year with the lockout; it’s time to play ball.
So, the season opens away on April 7th against their Division rival, the New York Yankees.
*Due to inclement weather; there has been a game change. And, the season will start tomorrow, April 8th at 1:00 p.m. After opening day; they will have 2 more games in New York on April 9th and 10th.

After New York, the Sox head to Detroit to take on the Tigers.
When the Red Sox open up at home; it won’t be until April 18th which is also Patriots Day. The first game at home begins at 11:05 a.m. where the team will play the Minnesota Twins.

Baseball is Back – Red Sox Season Predictions
Last year’s team was a surprise for both the fans and the baseball analysts.
In the off-season; Chaim Bloom made a few deals. Though there were quite a few signings; I was hoping for an upgrade with the team’s starting pitching and bullpen.
Since this year, there will be 12 teams making the playoffs; it is possible the Red Sox will compete. However, in my opinion; there are still question marks on both the team’s starting pitching and bullpen.
In summary, I think the Toronto Blue Jays made a lot of upgrades in the off-season and are not only capable of winning the division but being a contender in October.
Before last season started; I wrote the Toronto Blue Jays were the favorite to win the division.
