Summer Makeup

The temperature outside is rising, time to lighten up on summer makeup.   Of course, Summer is the time of year to enjoy the warm weather, walks on the beach, spending time outside and being in the ocean.

As fun as summer is, melting ice cream, smeared eyeliner, melting makeup and sticky lipstick isn’t something to look forward to.

Summer Makeup

When it comes time to apply makeup, the only thing that should be on heavily in the summer months is sunscreen.   If you’re like me and not a fan of foundation, powder, and concealer, consider starting your day with an oil free moisturizer.

Embrace the season.    Skip the foundation.  Cover up spots and blemishes with a concealer.  By skipping the base, you won’t have to worry about streaky makeup later in the day.   When sweat and powder mix, the look isn’t pretty.  Use sheer cream shadows.  They have a glimmer and tend to cake less in hot weather.

Waterproof mascara is a no brainer for the summer months.  Waterproof mascara can be used for exercising, work, summer activities, and swimming without smudging.  Lip gloss is essential for the summer months.  Tinted lip balms, lip stains, and sheer lipsticks are other great options for your lips.  Keep blotting and oil absorbing sheets in your purse – this will help eliminate the shine.

Bronze beautifully

Also, a good bronzer makes everything look better.  In addition, it will make your face look brighter and your teeth whiter.  Furthermore, everyone looks better with a warm glow.  The best way to apply bronzer is by applying it to the high points of your face – cheekbones, forehead, nose, and chin.  Don’t cover your entire face as you want to look natural, not fake baked.  I add a little bronzer to my neck to top off my makeup.

Summer makeup is best when light. Have fun with summer colors, but don’t go too heavy with product.  Keep it natural this summer.  By looking natural, you will have a soft glow all summer long.
