With Memorial Day around the corner and the Summer vacation season beginning, now is the time to think about your vacation packing essentials. In the first place, I’m guilty of over packing. Every time my Husband and I are planning a trip, he always jokes with me that we’re going away for a week, not a month.
Packing can create a lot of anxiety for many individuals. But it doesn’t have to. By planning ahead, you will be redirecting your anxiety.
Vacation Packing Essentials
So, whether this is your first trip or hundredth trip, you should always plan a checklist. Of course, one of the first things you need is a good set of luggage. Below is a three-piece luggage set. In addition, this set includes a 20, 24 and 28 inch spinner luggage.
At the same time, it is a good idea to start a few days ahead of your trip. You don’t want to wait until the last-minute to pack. In the same fashion, it is good to pick a color story. Whenever I go away, I try to come up with a few colors so I can mix and match my outfits.
Carry-On Bag
Indeed, a vacation packing essentials is to prepare a carry-on bag. In the same way, a carry-on bag should have anything you need while you’re on the plane at your fingertips. Also, it is a good idea to pack a change of clothing and toiletries in case your luggage is lost.
In addition, you may want to pack a book, a travel blanket and pillow. When packing your carry-on, make sure you keep it light.
Packing Your Suitcase
Now, you’re ready to pack your main piece of luggage. For me, a key ingredient in packing is to bring lots of layers. By bringing lightweight clothes, you’re able to pack more items of clothing.
When packing, you want to roll your clothes as this creates more space. Also, by rolling you will have less wrinkles than if you were folding your clothes. At the same time, an important tip is to remember not to go over the Airline’s weight. My Husband always weights our luggage the night before our trip.
If you have zipper compartments in your luggage, use them to store accessories and lightweight shoes. Another important tip is to pack your shoes on the side of your luggage. Because, I tend to bring a lot of shoes, my Husband usually is stuck adding a pair or two to his baggage.
Conclusion
In essence, vacation packing essentials should be about the items you will use. Of course, I tend to pack too much. I always come back with clothing I never wore. Moreover, you can always shop for anything you forget to bring. After all, shopping is part of the fun while on vacation.
Very good tips Lynne I tend to over pack as well (LOL ) ! Happy vacationing :-)
Denise, Thanks as we’re both from the same school and over packing is part of our MO.
I like to start packing earlier too so I have enough time to think and pack most of the things I will need. Also I tend to travel much lighter now. I find the trip more enjoyable when my suitcase is lighter.
Cheryl, It’s always hard for me to pack less as any time I have, I find I’m out shopping fairly quickly looking for things I forgot or will need. Also, I feel I need a lot of different things, especially when vacationing in the islands.
