Willie Marrero Brings his Flair to VKY & Co.,
Because we have always stayed in touch; I was excited to learn more about what he was doing. After he left his prior position; Willie started teaching at Miami International University – a styling program
As a Designer, his goal is to create a collection that resonates with women everywhere. Once he connected with Tony, the Owner of VKY & Co., he was offered the position of Head Designer.
Ultimately, Willie’s biggest satisfaction is when he hears from his customers and clients that OMG – they love it and continue to come back over and over again!
From the get-go, he felt he landed in the right place. At the same time, he felt connected to the companies philosophy and the ideas started to flow between his pencil and paper.
He saw the companies goal was to give the customer what they want.
In fact, if someone is looking for fast fashion; this brand won’t be for them.
Willie Marrero – Breakfast, Lunch and More…
When he starts his day, Willie’s daily breakfast is Vogue.
After studying all of the latest trends; he lets his imagination flow. Sometimes, he has over 200 sketches. However, that doesn’t mean all of his sketches make it to production.
In the same fashion, his signature design process is to play with draping the fabric. In addition, he always uses good finishing details such as piping on all of his pieces.
Whether he puts a piece of chiffon on a mannequin and turns the fan on to see how the silk flows or rips fabric; his goal is to put them on a mannequin to create something different.
Of course, his ultimate goal is for the garment to be a best seller.
Finally, he takes everything into consideration and lets it fly. Whether it’s a happy or sad emotion; he lets his imagination lead the way and believes, “the universe is watching and always delivers”.
