American Heart Gratitude Challenge

American Heart Gratitude Challenge

American Heart Gratitude Challenge started last month; however you can set up your own challenge anytime. A new year brings new resolutions.

American Heart Month

Since this is American Heart Month, I thought this was a good time to share my own goals with my readers. To read more, check out my American Heart Month February post.

Because heart disease runs in my family, personally, this is something I’ve paid more attention to. And, a healthy diet and exercise is a start.

When it comes to your heart, setting aside some time to be healthy can be a good thing. So, let’s begin this journey together.

First and foremost, lets acknowledge all the positive things that happened in our lives. However, if you’ve had some things that weren’t so good in your life; it is important to try to remain strong.

By participating in any type of challenge, it is important to find something positive about ourselves and think about this every day.

And, though this is a month after the challenge started, there is no time like the present to see how you’re doing. Are you meeting your goals? Or, have you already caved on some of your resolutions?

When it comes to our health, there is no time like the present to begin. So, these are some of the things I’m doing.

  1. Focus on eating healthier. To read more, check out my National Sugar Awareness Week January post for some ways to reduce sugar from your diet.
  2. Next time you’re at a restaurant, try to take more time to pause between each bite. Of course, by doing this, you will get full faster.
  3. Of course, stress can sometimes have a negative impact on our diet. Next time, I’m stressed, I’m going to use that time to get on the treadmill.
  4. Since I’m going through a personal challenge in my life with my deceased Sister Edie’s murder trial; I’m going to hug someone in appreciation for being there for me over the last few years.
  5. When someone does something nice for you, appreciate the gesture.
  6. Finally, I’m going to continue to exercise more often.

In summary, American Heart Gratitude Challenge is a time to focus on something positive. Awareness, diet and reflection can help us focus on our long term goals.

As always, I welcome your comments on how you’re doing on your challenge.
