Boston Red Sox Trades that will Shape the Team in 2021 and Beyond

So, the Boston Red Sox Trades are sure to shape the team in 2021 and beyond. In the last several weeks, Chaim Bloom has been busy pursuing deals that will help replenish the farm system. Before this season, the Red Sox ranked 25 out of 30 teams in their farm system. So, time to rebuild.

Boston Red Sox Trades

Prior to today, the team has made two big trades.

In the first deal; the team sent closer, Brandon Workman and Heath Hembree to the Philadelphia Phillies for two pitchers. Moreover, they received Connor Seabold and Nick Pivetta.

In addition, they moved Mitch Moreland this past Sunday to the San Diego Padres for Infielder, Hudson Potts, and Outfielder, Jeisson Rosario.

Notably, Kevin Pillar was traded to the Colorado Rockies for International Slot Money. Meanwhile, if you’re not familiar with International Slot Money – it refers to giving teams the opportunity to spend more money on players around the world.

Also, next year, the monies will decrease for the next 3 years under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. So, whether teams use it or not; it could be a plus for signing international players.

As well as Pillar, Josh Osich was traded to the Chicago Cubs.

Trade Deadline

Although this has been a short season; many teams are trying to make the post-season.  Since there will be 16 teams making the playoffs this year; there has been a lot of activity.

And, others are looking to rebuild.

With so many teams in the hunt; this is unlike prior seasons.
