Celebrate LGBT Pride Month! Since the World has come a long way in regards to gay rights, this month is about acceptance and also to welcome diversity.
Lesbian and Gay Pride Month
In the first place, Bill Clinton deemed June the month of “Gay and Lesbian Pride Month” back in 2000. It is important to remember this month was chosen due to a riot in 1969 in Manhattan. Because of this, many think this was the start of the gay liberation movement in the United States.
Celebrate LGBT Pride Month
So, this month is a month of acceptance no matter what someone’s sexuality is. At the same time, Gay and Lesbian groups celebrate with:
- Parades
- Parties
- Memorials for people lost from HIV and Aids
- Picnics
Not only is this an important month for Gays, Lesbians, and Transgenders, but also has an impact of everyone worldwide.
LGBT and Politics
When Barack Obama was our President, we saw the Supreme Court recognize a constitutional right to marry for same-sex couples. After President Trump was elected, questions loom on gay rights equality in housing and the workplace.
Although there has been progressing for LGBT, there are uncertainties.
