On snowy and cold days, there is nothing like a delicious hot chocolate. As a young girl growing up North of Boston, I always enjoyed snow days. When the snow came down, there was something comfortable about sitting with my Mother in the kitchen over a cup of hot cocoa.
Delicious Hot Chocolate
Although the weather outside may be frightful, there is nothing like a delicious hot chocolate drink. As soon as the weather turns cooler, my drink of choice is a hot cocoa. Not only do kids love hot chocolate, but adults enjoy it as well. Also, you can add a splash of liquor.
Everyday Hot Cocoa
If you don’t want to make it yourself, there are many companies that sell hot cocoa packets and mixes. In addition, you only have to add hot water or milk and stir.
Hot Cocoa Additions
So you’re ready to try spicing up your drink. In addition, consider these delicious suggestions to spruce up your hot cocoa:
- Marshmallow – I like to put a huge spoonful right into my mug.
- Whipped Creme – Also, I prefer homemade versus a spray can.
- Liquor – Adults can add their choice. Hence, my favorite to add is Bailey’s. Also, you can try Amaretto, Brandy, Kahlua, or Schnapps.
- Coconut
- Nutmeg
- Gingerbread crumbs
- Cookie crumbs
- Cinnamon sticks
- Peppermint sticks broken into small pieces
- Fresh ginger root
Delicious Hot Chocolate Recipe
As a matter of fact, my favorite recipe is as follows.
- One cup of semi sweets
- 3/4 cup of hot water or 1% milk
- Boil hot water or milk
- Pour into mug and stir
- Add a dollop of whipped creme or marshmallow
If you want to be a little more adventurous, add a splash of your favorite liquor to your mug.
Because I’m counting points on Weight Watchers, I use a bottle of water and heat this in a sauce pan or 1% milk. So you can still diet, yet splurge with my above suggestion for a delicious hot chocolate drink.
Conclusion
Of course, hot chocolate brings me back to days of my youth. But as an adult, I still crave a hot cocoa. In conclusion, there is nothing like a delicious hot chocolate to warm you up on a cold winter day.
