Dress in Blue Day - Support Colon Cancer

Dress in Blue Day – Support Colon Cancer

Dress in Blue is today! So, this day is celebrated on the first Friday in March. In the first place, this day is about supporting one of the leading causes of cancer death.

Dress in Blue Day – Support Colon Cancer

Similarly to the pink ribbon in October for breast cancer deaths; this day is to honor the memory of people lost to colon cancer. Since I lost my Mom to this type of cancer; I’m very familiar with this disease.

In 2009, Anita Mitchell was instrumental in bringing this day to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. Since that time, this day has become a national day.

In addition, this type of cancer often goes undetected until it is too late. Visit my National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month post to learn more about this disease.

In fact, this type of cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death. However, you can protect yourself by having a colonoscopy at the age of 50. But, if this disease has touched your family; you should have a colonoscopy at the age of 40 or sooner.

What to do on Dress in Blue Day

Of course, the key to this day is to have screenings. Indeed, a colonoscopy is vital to everyone 50 and older. Or, sooner if you are at high risk.

Every year there are thousands of cases of colon and rectal cancer.

First and foremost, make sure you take the necessary steps to protect yourself and your loved ones from dealing with this horrible disease.

At the same time, eating a healthy diet often plays a part in developing this type of cancer. Check out my Create a Heart Healthy Lifestyle to Reduce Weight post for tips on eating healthily.

Also, check out your wardrobe for something to wear today to support this important health holiday.

WANDIC Blue Ribbon Pin

Whether or not you are wearing something in blue; you can still support this important disease.

Included are 10 Blue Ribbon Brooches to add to whatever you are wearing. Add this brooch to your outfit or accessorize your handbag or scarf.

More importantly, this day is for everyone – Men, and Women!

Not only is this to wear today, but all the time.

Give these to your family and friends to wear too.
