Fashion Day Today July 9th

Fashion Day Today July 9th

Fashion Day is today, July 9, 2020. Since most of us have been cooped up in our home, social distancing for the last several months; it is time to think about putting on some fun outfits and celebrating our style. Of course, fashion is more than getting dressed. When someone puts on something; there is usually thought that goes into what they’re going to wear.

What is Fashion Day

When I first heard about this day dedicated to fashion; my first thought was isn’t every day about fashion? Did you know the majority of fashion traces back to Marie Antoinette? In fact, Rose Bertin was known as the “Minister of Fashion” to Marie Antoinette and others.

Although Bertin may have been recognized for starting the fashion craze; Charles Frederick Worth was considered the first modern fashion designer.

At the same time, the 19th and 20th century was known for fine clothing throughout the world. From Coco Channel to Karl Lagerfield; they shaped the styles that are still highly sought after today.

Of course, today, designers show their own taste.

Meanwhile, other fashion days have become ways to celebrate unique styles and trends. For instance, Ashley Lauren was credited for bringing National Dress Day to the forefront. To read more, be sure to check out my National Dress Day post.

What does Fashion mean to you?

When you think about clothing; what does it mean to you? Since I consider myself to have a keen eye: I always take a different approach to style.

Ever since I was a little girl, I took an interest in prancing around my home in my Mom’s shoes and accessories. Not much has changed, as I still enjoy wearing fun fashion styles.

In fact, fashion means different things to people. For some, fashion is a creative way of expressing themselves. Of course, what someone chooses to wear can provide us with a glimpse of their personality.

So, style is a way to express who you are. Often, a Fashion Designer or an individual may choose a symbol or color to express their style.

Whether you spend a lot of money or not, doesn’t matter. Mix and match. Show off who you are. Or, wear what you want. To be fashionable; one doesn’t need to follow trends. Express who you are. Wear what you want.  Live your best life by portraying the way you want the world to see you.

Celebrate Diversity and Variety

In a world where things change often; styles change which keeps things interesting.

The new norm is all about celebrating diversity and gender-neutral. To read more on unisex styles; be sure to visit my Gender Fluid Fashion Trend Happening post.

Above all, many celebrities have had a big impact on clothing in their collaborations with many different brands. To see the influence Rihanna had on Puma; be sure to check out my Round Two Puma Fenty Fur Slides post. In addition, Sarah Jessica Parker, Pharrell Williams, Michelle Obama, and Kanye West have put their own spin on fashion in recent years.

Even though there has been a lot of influence in styles over the last decade; personally, I march to the beat of my own drum.

Fashion changes – style is internal!

With everything in a state of influx right now; fashion needs to be not so much about shock value, but more on diversity and an inclusive approach. With things tough all around us; fashion can be a way to open a world of possibilities.

In essence, without clothing to choose from; we would all be wearing the same things over and over again.

As always, I welcome your comments on what fashion means to you.
