Give Back This Holiday Season

Give Back This Holiday Season

Let’s give back this holiday season. Because the holidays are a time for giving; there are things you can do to brighten up someone else’s day.

In the first place, it is important to be generous. Although not everyone has the means to do so; it is important to give back. As you think about what you have, think about all of those less fortunate. Indeed, we all get bombarded with requests for donations.

Ways to Give Back

But, there is more that you can do that doesn’t require donating monetary wise. So, I’ve come up with some creative ways of giving back this holiday season. First and foremost, most of us have a lot of clutter in our lives. Now is the perfect time to clean out clothes, furniture and appliances we no longer need. You can donate to a number of charitable organizations. For example, Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill and the Salvation Army will all pick up your items.

With Winter around the corner, think about hosting a coat drive. If you work for a large company, speak to someone about placing a bin in an area where everyone can drop off Winter clothing. Another option is to organize a food drive. Visit my Coordinate Food Donation Drive for some suggestions.

With all the recent hurricane’s and devastation in the world, there a number of cities and states that are in desperate need of tangible and intangible goods.

Another way to give back is to offer your time and skill set to a non-profit, school or hospital. If you’re an expert in something; offer your assistance to someone who can benefit from your skills.

Although monetary donations is a nice thing to do; a human connection is sometimes more appreciated. Of course, there is more to life than the bottom line. Visit my Gift Giving Tuesday post to read more ways to give today.

In my opinion, my giving back requires doing little things for those in need. Whether it is taking my Mother-in-law to a medical appointment, donating tangible goods and writing for a non-profit; they all bring me joy.

As always, I welcome your comments.

Happy Holidays!
