Holiday Traditions that may Inspire you

Before you begin decorating this season; I have some holiday traditions that may inspire you. At the same time, many people as well as countries have different rituals around the globe.

Holiday Traditions

Do you and your family do the same thing each year during the holiday season?

So, this year I decided to ask some of the people who work with me what are their favorite things to do. Whether they have a tradition they grew up with or started new things; I thought some of their responses may inspire you.

My Holiday Traditions that may Inspire you

When I was growing up, my Mom used to light the candles on the Menorah.

Because my Dad always worked a lot during the holiday season, my family always exchanged gifts on Christmas Day.

Though my Sisters and I still received gifts on Chanukah; we always gave gifts to each other on Christmas.

Over the years, things have changed, but I continue to open gifts on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my family and special friends.

In addition, I tend to host holiday parties. Check out my Ugly Christmas Sweater Party Recap and Winter Wonderland Party Recap posts for some party ideas.

However, this year, my husband and I are planning to be in Montreal over Christmas and due to other commitments; we are skipping hosting a party this year. But, we hope to have a party next year. Stay tuned!

My Pinterest Specialist has a few great traditions she wants to share with you.

When she was a little girl growing up, she remembers her family used the same ornaments each year. Moreover, many of these ornaments were handed down from the family over many years and are sentimental.

When she moved out of her family home and started her own family; she would give her kids ornaments in their stockings. Also, when she first had kids, she made them each a stocking and would add a charm and number. Hence, the numbers and charms would be relative to something they liked.

Of course, now that her kids are older; the stocking is getting too heavy. So, she is hoping to see this tradition passed on when they begin a family.

Finally, one tradition they do every year on Christmas Eve is they make English Christmas Bread. So, her Mom is originally from England, and many of these traditions her Mom grew up with have been passed down to her.

Because the owner of the Digital Agency, I work with doesn’t celebrate Christmas; he usually has dinner with his family and close friends nearby.

Holiday Traditions to Try

No matter where you live; there are many things you can do to celebrate the festive season.  For instance, in many countries; caroling is still popular. In fact, in many parts of the world; families and children go around in Christmas costumes and perform in the town square.

In other countries, there are Christmas parades.

Indeed, many people are busy during the season shopping, attending parties, and hosting. However, why not plan something meaningful to do with your family and friends this season? Check out my Dashing Through the Snow – Holiday and Winter Ideas post for some inspiration.

As always, I welcome your comments on your favorite holiday traditions.

  1. Il love traditions. When I was growing up, around Christmas time, I would open the windows in the parlor and play Christmas carols for the neighbors. I played organ. Neighbors loved it.

For many years as an adult, I made a Christmas tape or CD and mailed it to my friends.

    Traditions are important,
