New England Patriots are Ready for the 2020 Season

The New England Patriots are ready for the 2020 season. So, how will this season look without Number #12? With Tom Brady opting out of his final year with the Patriots; the offense will have an entirely different look for the first time in 2 decades. To read more about Brady’s departure; be sure to check out my Tom Brady #12 Patriots Journey post.

New England Patriots are ready for the 2020 Season

After a flurry of players opting out of the 2020 season, and #12s departure; the Patriots will have an entirely different feel to the season. After winning 6 NFL Championships in 2 decades; how will a new Quarterback perform?

Since the Patriots acquired Cam Newton, he is set to be the starting quarterback. Indeed, there was a lot of talk in the off-season, if Jarrett Stidham would be the starter? Or, would journeyman, Brian Hoyer become the starter?

So, a few days ago, Cam Newton officially was named the starting quarterback. Meanwhile, Bill Belichick has been impressed with Newton’s preparation on the field.

In July, he was signed by the Patriots for a one year deal for up to 7.5 million. How will Newton perform with the Patriots? Indeed, that is the question for Sports Analysts and Patriot Nation. In my opinion, Newton is going to prove to everyone he is ready to not only be the starter; as well as prove to everyone his skills and leadership are up for the challenge.

In addition to Newton being named as the starting quarterback; he was also named as one of the Captains for the season. Of course, this season should provide a lot of excitement to see how he does after the departure of Tom Brady.

Patriots Veterans and New Additions – Championship?

With the Patriots having several Veterans returning for the 2020 season as well as some new additions; the Patriots are hoping to be the last team standing at the end of the season.

After several cuts in early September, there are still questions remaining. Because the Patriots have cut both Nick Folk and Justin Rohrwasser; who will be their kicker for the season? Since the season opens on Sunday, September 13th against the Miami Dolphins; there are still a few question marks.

In addition to the Patriots releasing their two kickers; they also released Mohamed Sanu. Although Sanu thinks he was released due to wanting more money; I personally think he wasn’t a good fit for the team. Since he was acquired by the Pats; his stats weren’t what they were with the Atlanta Falcons.

Now that there have been several new players added; how will the offense look? And, with several defensive players opting out; how will their defense look?

In summary, the Patriots have won the AFC 17 out of the last 19 years. Although it may be soon to say; many predict the Patriots to win the division. So, even without Number #12, Dont’a Hightower, and Patrick Chung; will the Patriots have a championship team?

As always, I welcome your comments –  if you think the New England Patriots are ready to show the world who they are without Number #12? Will Belichick show the world he is ready to move on from Brady?

Of course, I wouldn’t count the Patriots out of going far this year.
