So, this game opens the season with a rematch against the Seattle Seahawks. When they last played each other, it was in Super Bowl LX. In this rematch, it’s the opening night of the NFL season.
On opening night, the Seattle Seahawks will raise and unfurl their Super Bowl Championship banner against the crowd before kickoff.
So, the Seahawks are hoping their defense repeats its dominance against Drake Maye.
At the same time, Mike Vrabel hopes his team studies the changes Seattle made in the offseason. In addition, he wants his team to block the Seahawks better and stop their run.
Vrabel has told his team they will not win unless they dominate the line at scrimmage.
Indeed, the Pats will need better execution and a more physical performance to win.
Also, this is the first Wednesday game in Patriots franchise history.
2026 New England Patriots
At the beginning of the 2025 season, the team replaced Jerod Mayo with Mike Vrabel.
Of course, everyone was surprised when the Pats reached the Super Bowl.
Now, they will enter their second season with Mike Vrabel as head coach and an offense led by Drake Maye.
Though the team added Pro Bowler A.J. Brown, left guard Alijah Vers Tucker, and fullback Reggie Gilliam to boost their ground performance, and shifted Jared Wilson to center, questions remain about their pass rush.
In addition, there are concerns about their lack of depth.
Also, there has been a lot of mention that they have a much tougher schedule than the year before. However, I spoke with my nephew, who played football and whom I call Mr. Football, about the Pats. He expects the Pats to win 11 to 12 games. Will he be right?
Additionally, sports analysts and betting models predict the Patriots to win between 9 and 10 games.
