With their loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday; the Patriots upcoming Wild Card Game will be on Saturday, January 4th against the Tennessee Titans.
New England Patriots Loss
Since the team showed positve signs in their comeback victory against the Buffalo Bills; I thought the team would beat the Dolphins in the final game of the regular season. Be sure to check out my Patriots Clinch 11th Straight Division post to read about their win last week.
So, what happened in the final game of the regular season? Clearly, the Dolphins came ready to play.
In my opinion, the defense isn’t what it has been portrayed as all season. At the same time, the defense wasn’t able to stop Miami from scoring. Belichick’s former Assistant Coach, the first year Miami Dolphin’s Coach, Brain Flores team was able to defeat the Pats.
Meanwhile, this game showed signs of the Patriots weaknesses. Although the Pats started the season off undefeated; they finished with a record of 5 – 4 in the last nine games. Also, they lost to three other AFC divisional champs in these losses.
Patriots Upcoming Wild Card Game
With the Pats loss to the Dolphins on the last game of the regular season; they will play in their first Wild Card Game since 2009. When they played in 2009, they lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
Now, the Patriots will face another team they have familiarity with. Meanwhile, former player of the Pats, Mike Vrabel’s, Tennesee Titans will play in Foxborough this Saturday, January 4th at 8:35 p.m.
Will the Patriots be able to defeat the Titans? Although they are favorites to win the game against the Titans; this has been a strange season for the New England Patriots. The last time the two teams matched up was last season; and, the Titans beat the Patriots in a score of 34 – 10. So, it is not crazy to think this can happen again.
In essence, the Patriots don’t seem like the team they have been in the past. In fact, Tom Brady has missed open players and has been intercepted all season long. Will he retire after the season is over or will he become a Free Agent?
Indeed, that has been the question all season long.
