Sneaker trend in fashion is having a moment. Who doesn’t own a pair of sneakers? Sneakers are worn by every one of all ages. When I was growing up, sneakers were about playing outside and gym class. Steve Jobs may have started this trend by wearing sneakers in the 90’s.
His “Think different” while wearing New Balance running shoes became well known. Today, the sneaker is a fashion statement and has been seen at the workplace and on the red carpet. Robert Downey Jr. often wears a suit and sneakers on the red carpet.
If the shoe fits, wear it! Sneakers are emerging as chic, comfortable, and trendy. Many men have been pairing their blue suit with a white dress shirt and black or navy sneakers. Women have been seen recently in long slip dresses with hi-top sneakers, long dresses with hi-heel sneaker mules, and sneakers in the workplace. Of course, sneakers are elevating Women’s style to a new level. I own a hi-heeled sneaker pump that I wear with dresses, skirts, and shorts. Also being the “shoe queen” I own a hi-heel sneaker mule that I wear frequently and I pair the mules with shorts or a t-shirt dress.
You don’t need to be running or a physical activity to look chic in a sneaker. Fashion focus sneakers are a trend in footwear. Of course, we all need proper sneakers for walking, running, and other physical activities. I own several Converse sequin sneakers and pair them with casual attire often.
Sneaker Trend
Because casual and activewear fashion is a big category, sneakers have seen a tremendous up-tick in sales. In addition, there is a need for lifestyle footwear. Fashion trumps fitness. We are seeing Fashionista’s wearing sneakers everywhere we turn. Sneakers is a look anyone can pull off. Many Designer labels are creating sneakers such as Balenciaga. We have seen a lot of fashion collaborations on the sneaker (See my post on Celebrity endorsements driving fashion).
Whether you are an athlete or someone who likes sneakers, some styles to consider for the 2016 summer season are below. The wedge heel gives the sneaker some height. Also, the rocker style vibe is cool and this can be paired with so many different trends in fashion this season.
The Puma slip on below is a great sporty fashion style. The style is feminine. It can be worn casual or with a dress. I own this style in black and they accompany me on all my vacations as they are comfortable, yet stylish.
