Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

With the arrival of the Spring season, now is a good time to start your spring cleaning. So, let’s start room by room.

Bathroom

The bathroom has a lot of corners that attract dust and dirt.  Vacuuming before cleaning will make the cleaning process easier and faster.  Use the vacuum attachment to get into the tight spaces and underneath the cabinets.  Use a cleaner with a fresh scent.   There are many choices available to choose from. So, pick a scent you like and your bathroom will sparkle and smell clean.

Bedroom

I always start by emptying all of my drawers in each bureau, nightstand, hope chest and armoire.  By going through my drawers I’m able to set up a donation pile.  If there is anything with a stain that you may have missed, now is a good time to use an advanced stain remover before laundering.    Organize your drawers by garments.  Additionally, I keep my armoire by color.  It makes it easier for me to find something when I’m in a hurry.  Dust and deep clean all furniture.  Change your comforter or blanket to something lightweight for the season.

Kitchen

Vacuum in corners (follow the same steps as bathroom).   Focus on hard to reach areas as the top of the refrigerator or cabinet.  Dust and remove products.   Spring cleaning is the perfect time to get rid of any perishables, expired foods, spices, cereal, or canned goods that have been around too long.  Cleaning the kitchen can be time consuming.  Purchase a good multi surface cleaner for the cabinets, surface and stove.  Lastly, clean the refrigerator.  I try and empty the shelves periodically.  It is important to sanitize your refrigerator by using wipes and emptying products past expiration dates.  I usually find condiments and miscellaneous things in the refrigerator that both my husband and I haven’t used in a while.

Living Room, Dining Room and Den

Of course, everyone seems to keep reading material near their remote. Most of us have coffee table books or magazines lying around.  Now is the time to get rid of any magazine that is older than three months, unless it is a special edition publication.  If there is anything you want out of the magazine, clip it and put it in a book, folder or scrapbook. Moreover, high traffic rooms invite germs so it is important to disinfect.  If you have dishes, vases, or glasses out, make sure you dust and clean thoroughly.

Spring Cleaning of Your Windows

Many of us don’t like cleaning windows. It is important to get the windows clean by the inside glass.  On a nice spring day, enjoy the fresh breeze from the cleanliness of your windows.

Enjoy the cleanliness of your home and the clean and smell of a fresh odor.  With spring cleaning complete, we can venture outdoors often and feel gratified that our home is clean.
