Staycation Destinations

Since the pandemic, many people have been staying close to home. So, if you are ready to venture outside your home; now is the perfect time to plan a mini vacation in a city close by or your own state.

With Fall around the corner, colors will be changing.

Now, is the perfect time to plan a vacation.

Staycation – Places to Visit Nearby

Whether you are curious about a place you have driven by in your city or a place you have heard about in your state; now is the time to seek out a place you have never been to before.

If you are ready to venture outside of your home and looking for something to break up your routine; here are some of my ideas.

Camping – There are many campgrounds located in many states. However, if you don’t live near a campground; you can always plan a camping trip in your backyard. And, if you have never camped; there are many parks located everywhere.

Be a Tourist Nearby

If you live close to a city that you have never really explored; now is the perfect opportunity to venture out to an area close by.

In fact, if you are visiting a major city; you may want to check out purchasing Go City. With Go City; you can see great places by buying an app for your phone. Use this app to visit attractions, hop on a tour and discover some new places.

When anyone visits a new state; they typically are looking for historical places and the area’s main attraction. So, research events and things to do in an area you are visiting.

Indeed, you may learn something new about a city, town, or state close by.

Finally, if you are a foodie, take a food tour. In fact, many cities offer tours of various cities. And, if you cannot find a tour, you can always plan your own tour by stopping in various restaurants to try a single course.

Pamper Yourself

If you are headed somewhere new; see if there are spas on the premises or nearby. Many hotels and resorts have different treatment services.

Also, you may be able to buy a 1-day pass to use the spa and sauna.

Set some time to do things to unwind.

While you are in the spa, I recommend bringing a book or magazine to read. Check out my 5 Best Books for National Read in the Bathtub Day post to enjoy reading while you are soaking in a jacuzzi or by the pool.

Why you Should Consider a Staycation

Since Covid-19 has impacted almost everywhere; now is a great time to check out a place nearby. However, if you have been keeping up with news about air travel; there have been many flight cancellations.

Moreover, a staycation can save you a lot of money. In the first place, you don’t have to worry about air transportation. Additionally, you won’t have to worry about having a passport or exchanging currency.

When you vacation within driving distance; you minimize airline expenses and car rental.

At the same time, it is easy to plan to drive. When you are hitting the road for a vacation; make sure you have all the essentials in case of a road emergency. Check out my Summertime Road Trip Essentials post for everything you need for hitting the road.

Because of the pandemic, travel has changed. But, don’t let that stop you from planning a trip nearby to see things differently.

As always, I welcome your comments if you have ever had a staycation or do you have one planned in the future.
