World Smile Day

World Smile Day is today! So, this day is devoted to putting on your happy face? In fact, the average adult only smiles approximately 20 times a day; while a baby smiles approximately 400 times a day.

In the first place, this day was started in 1963 by commercial artist, Harvey Bell.

When Harvey created the smiley face; he was concerned the commercialization of this popular symbol would diminish the reason he created this day. Indeed, he is not wrong!

Meanwhile, the smiley face is one of the most popular symbols in the world. But, did you know the original face had an oblong smile?

Because this happy face moved away from its original purpose, Bell felt more had to be done to get the message across about being kind and doing nice things for others.

So, in 1999, this became an official holiday

In celebration of this day; there are many things you can do to be happy and spread cheer.

If you are the type of person who is always on the go; it’s essential to make time for yourself. For example, use today to do something you enjoy. Or use the day to relax and unwind.
If you want to brighten someone else’s day; you can do something they may not be able to do for themselves. For instance, many elderly people don’t have a vehicle available.
