While vacationing recently, there are many Aruba surprise dining options available. When my husband and I vacation, we always are on the lookout for the best dining experiences.
Aruba Surprise Dining Options
So, if you’re willing to try something a little different and dine in a cozy atmosphere with approximately 16 other guests you never met, you’re in for a fun experience. Since I’m a foodie, I’m always looking for new restaurants to try.
2 Fools and a Bull
When my husband and I vacationed in Aruba in September 2016, we dined at 2 Fools and a Bull. Visit my prior post on 2 Fools and a Bull. If you dined there prior, they will have a different menu on your next visit. I’m sure this can be tricky for Pauly and Chef, Bas. Hence, Pauly informed me of the importance of never having the same menu for his repeat guests.
Chef Bas
Because my husband and I had an enjoyable time there, we were excited about returning. For me, the food was the high point of the night. Chef, Bas (short for Sebastian) does an excellent job with the menu and intermixing the flavors. Also, I like the fact that Bas talks about the ingredients of each course.
Moreover, Bas is a talented Chef who has trained in both Holland and Aruba. His expertise in preparing special menus came across both times my Hubby and I have dined at 2 Fools and a Bull.
2 Fools and a Bull Night
In between courses, you head outside for some mingling and wine. Of course, I like to poke around and check out the decor. In view of this, I couldn’t resist sitting in the chair for a Queen or King.
Pauly continues to provide entertainment for the evening. He starts the evening off with a toast and continues with humorous stories throughout the night. If you have dined there prior, you will remember some of his stories.
What was different for me this time, than the last time, was there was a family dining together, so this didn’t have the same vibe as my first time dining there. When you have a group of people together, they tend to not talk to others. Since I spoke to almost everyone by the time we were seated, Pauly accommodated my seating request and didn’t put us next to the family.
Fred Restaurant
Since the last time I was in Aruba, I learned that Fred Restaurant was considered the number one restaurant. From the moment we arrived, both Tom and Fred greeted us and made us comfortable. The restaurant is located on the second floor of another popular restaurant – Que Pasa.
Although both restaurants are similar in concept, I found the floor plan more spacious. In addition, Fred was associated in the past with 2 Fools and a Bull and Marandi. Fred is an unbelievable chef and one of the things I appreciated was he asked if anyone has any special requests on how he cooks the meat.
In addition, I found Tom and Fred complimented each other perfectly. Also, I found Fred very accommodating to my allergy. Of course, being the klutz I am, I broke a water glass and Tom was very gracious about my mishap.
Plan to spend the night enjoying great food and interesting and fun conversations.
Conclusion
Although the two restaurants are similar in concept, they are different in atmosphere. In contrast, 2 Fools and a Bull provide a lot of laughter, and Fred’s restaurant is more low-key. No matter which one you choose, go hungry as the food portions are generous.
In summary, both restaurants are Number 1 and both are excellent in food and a fun night.
As always, I welcome your comments on Aruba’s surprise dining options.
