Boston Celtics Clinch Number 1 Seed

Boston Celtics Clinch Number 1 Seed

The Boston Celtics clinch number 1 seed in the playoffs in their win over the Milwaukee Bucks last night. In the first place, this is the second time since 1988 the Celtics have the number 1 spot in the East.

Celtics Clinch Number 1 Seed

With the Celtics win, they will meet the number 8 seed Chicago Bulls in round 1 of the NBA playoffs. While the Celtics split the regular season series with the Bulls, the Bulls are 3-14 all time against them in the playoffs.

By the same token, the Celtics clinch number 1 seed is exciting for many of the players. Of course, once you get to the playoffs, everything changes. While many of the teams have been resting players, other teams have been playing their starters regularly.

In addition to the Celtics win last night, Cleveland lost its final game. With this in mind, the Celtics will have home court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference finals.

Boston Celtics Highlight

Isaiah Thomas was third in the league in points this season. Also, he had the highest scoring game behind Larry Bird in the 1987-88 season. In addition, Boston is one of five teams to finish in the top 12 in the NBA in both offensive and defensive categories.

In the same way,  the Boston Celtics are one of the most balanced teams in the NBA. The Celtics are known for their lineup and versatility with their players.

Boston Celtics v Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls beat the Brooklyn Nets to lock up the number 8 spot in the playoffs. As the Bulls entered into the playoffs, the Celtics clinch number 1 seed, so the games will begin this weekend. Hence, the schedule will be:

  • Game 1 – in Boston at 6:30 p.m. E.T. Sunday, April 16th
  • Game 2 – in Boston at 8:00 p.m. E.T. Tuesday, April 18th
  • Game 3 – in Chicago at 7:00 p.m. E.T. Friday, April 21st
  • Game 4 – in Chicago at 6:30 p.m. E.T. Sunday, April 23rd
  • Game 5 – in Boston – TBD – Wednesday, April 26th
  • Game 6 – in Chicago – Time to be decided – Friday, April 28th
  • In addition, Game 7  – will be in Boston if needed.  The time hasn’t been announced – Sunday, April 30th

Although, Chicago was the number 8 seed, they have a lot of playoff experience led by Dwayne Wade, Jimmy Butler and a former Celtic player, Rajon Rondo. For the Celtics to win the series, they must play aggressively. Also, the key to the game is not to allow the Bulls second chance scoring opportunities.

Conclusion

Because the Celtics have more talent in their line-up, I predict the Celtics to win this series. Indeed, the Celtics are the better team, but anything can happen in the playoffs.

As always, I look forward to you sharing your thoughts on this series with me.
