KnockOff Book

The Knockoff Book by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza is a book that I read over the weekend and wanted to share with you.  Funny, fashion, fiction in the digital age.

The story’s main Character is Imogen Tate, Editor and Chief of Glossy Magazine.  She returns to work after being out for medical leave for the last six months.  When she returns, she barely recognizes her office or magazine.  Likewise, she finds her former Assistant, Eve Morton has been hired to turn the magazine into an App.

Eve is planning to take over the throne from Imogen, take over her job while turning the magazine into an App.  Eve fires most of the old staff and puts the Managing Editor into a small space.  She hires a bevy of twenty something’s to text and tweet.  Under Eve’s reign the Office staff suffers through weigh-ins, dances, and overnighters.  The office is quickly turning into a sweatshop.

Imogen faces the challenge of learning new technology, quitting or learning as she embarks on a quest to save the magazine and her career.  Imogen embarks on learning how to tweet and use new technology.  She remains true to herself by marrying her “old school” methods and delights us throughout the story by maintaining her integrity.

Knockoff Book

I highly suggest purchasing this book as it is an enjoyable book for anyone.  If you’re in the fashion or technical field, you will especially enjoy the humor and fashion references throughout the book.

Throughout the story, The Knockoff Book brings the fashionable and technical personalities to life.  Hence, what stood out to me most about this story was you can always learn new things.  Of course – always remain true to yourself.

Did you read the Knockoff book?  What did you like?  Dislike?  I look forward to you sharing your thoughts with men when you finish this delightful read.
