Mookie Betts Spectacular Season

After finishing second in 2016 to Mike Trout, this year the vote went his way. Although 2017 was a down year, he bounced back with changes he made in his swing in 2018. And, the change in his swing worked to his benefit.

Not only did he win the batting title in the American League; but he also had the best batting average in the MLB. In addition, he also had the best league slugging percentage at .640. Furthermore, with his strong offensive and defensive year, he had a 30/30 season.

Since Dustin Pedroia won this award in 2008, no other Red Sox player has won in the last nine years until now.

No doubt, Bett’s offense and defense contributed to the Red Sox having a magical season.
