Musical Enjoyment Singing Dancing Rain

Musical Enjoyment Singing Dancing Rain

My Husband and I recently saw the Musical, “Singin in the Rain” at North Shore Music Theatre.  Glitz, glamour and Hollywood made a splash in this amazing, romantic musical comedy. While this show is filled with comedy; its performance is about portraying silent movie to “talkies”.

Musical

“Singin in the Rain” is a 1952 musical comedy directed and choreographed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen.  Although the story is about silent film stars transitioning to “talkies” the story takes off with plenty of memorable songs.  Vocals and dancing were enjoyable.   Equally important were the performers singing songs such as:

  • Good Morning
  • “You were meant for me”
  • “Singin” in the rain

Choreography

In addition to dancing and singing, the performance received a round of applause at its conclusion.  For the most part, the comedy and tap dancing held the audience captive.  Although, I glanced over at my Husband at one point and noticed he had fallen asleep.

As the performance continued, the show became more enjoyable.  Vocals, dancing and timing were all executed perfectly.

Comedy

Due to the female lead being well played; she came across as a Woman who wouldn’t let anyone stand in her way.  Coupled with her unique vocal performance, she had me captured from the moment she spoke.  Also, remarkable performances were given by many of the Actors and their comic timing was entertaining.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this show exceeded my expectations.  While this show had many excellent performances, the energy and fast pace of the show had me captured throughout.  Scenery, lighting and three projection screens was a nice addition to the show.

The full cast performed “Singin in the Rain” as an encore in yellow raincoats and umbrellas.  Of course, there was even rain on the stage.

This fun musical comedy is one I highly recommend seeing before it ends.  It will leave you singing and dancing long after the performance has ended.

See this show before it ends on August 28, 2016 at North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts.
