National Relaxation Day August 15th

National Relaxation Day August 15th

In honor of today being National Relaxation Day, today’s post is about the best ways to slow down. Equally important is to unwind and relax today.

National Relaxation Day

In the first place, National Relaxation Day is observed yearly on August 15th. Indeed, it is important to have a day to slow down from the fast paced life we lead. So, take the day to relax and refresh our body and mind.

National Relaxation Day History

Sean Moeller is the founder of the holiday. As a fourth grader, he told the Des Moines Register that cleaning and real work are not part of relaxation. When Sean, founded the day back in 1985, he wanted to remind Americans to slow down and relax. Of course, too much of anything can make us sick and tired.

What to Do to Relax Today

Since the day falls during a weekday, many of us cannot take the day off from work. Although you may have something important to do today, try to avoid stress today. Also, do not work overtime today.

When you leave work today, take some time for yourself. Visit my Simplify Your Life Week post for some ideas.

So, are you ready for some ways to relax today? Of course, the following are some good ways to unwind after a busy day.

  • Take a walk in the park or on a beach.
  • Read a good book.
  • Meet friends for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks.
  • Also, take an art or cooking class.
  • Another great way to unwind is to visit a spa. If you don’t have the time or money, visit my Spa Experience at Home post for some ideas.
  • In addition, plan to take a leisurely drive along the coast.
  • Plan to Window shop or shop on-line.

Relaxation is Good for your Health

Because stress can cause us to get worked up, why not use the day to relax. Not only will you feel better, but you will feel ready to conquer the next challenge in the days ahead.

Indeed, stress can cause a heart issue. When you’re upset or stressed about something, your blood pressure can rise. Moreover, relaxing is known to boost your memory and lower your risk for stroke.

Importance of Relaxation

When you’re not under stress, you’re able to think clearly and make better decisions. After all, everyone needs down-time. By finding some time for yourself, you will feel better physically and mentally.

In summary, let’s use today as a day to relax and unwind.

As always, I welcome your comments.

Happy National Relaxation Day!
