New York City Feels Like Home

New York City Feels Like Home

Something about New York City always feels like home to me.  Despite New York being 500 miles from me, the city always feels right to me.  Together with friends, my husband and I planned a weekend jaunt to New York City.

New York City

When I was a little girl, my parents took me and my Sisters to New York on Vacation.  After I received my A.S. in Fashion Merchandising, I thought I would end up living in NYC.  Hence, I decided to pursue further education.  Even though I went back to college, I ended up starting a business in the Wholesale Fashion Industry at the age of 29.  Due to spending countless weeks in NYC throughout the course of 24 years in the wholesale trade began my love affair for the city.

In reality, I’ve visited New York City countless times.  Each time I visit the city, I always end up at my tried and true favorites.  Of course, I always try to experience something new on each visit.  One thing that always resonates with me during my visits is the high energy throughout the city.

Entertainment

So every time I’m in the City, I try to check out a new Broadway show.  Because this was the first time I was visiting the city for pleasure in quite some time, I planned a lot of fun activities.  Prior to our travel, I purchased tickets for my Husband and I to see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City.  Visit my post on the show Christmas Spectacular.

In addition the four of us decided to see Kinky Boots.  Visit my post on Kinky Boots.

Restaurants

Of course I couldn’t visit New York City without dining at one of my favorite restaurants.  In case you’re wondering what my favorite in NYC is – it is Basta Pasta.  Basta Pasta is Asian Italian with great food, good service and a wall of ever-changing art.  Table side pasta prepared in a half wheel of cheese is always a treat.  In addition, the menu changes throughout the year.  I have never been disappointed in all of my years of dining here.  I have brought employees, colleagues and friends and everyone always seems to enjoy this restaurant.

Additionally, we tried a restaurant I had never dined at prior on restaurant row.  Unfortunately, hair in our salad, poor service and mediocre food makes Orso New York a restaurant to bypass.  For those searching for pre-theater dining, keep looking.

Last trip to New York, a Business Associate took me to Eataly.  Eataly is a must see and eat.  So if you haven’t been to Italy, definitely put Eataly on your list of places to try.

One thing about NYC is there are an abundance of food options.  What are some of your favorite restaurants?

Friendship

A friendship began for me when I represented ZZ Silk.  The Designer and I struck up an immediate friendship.

Moreover, managing our friendship throughout the years has left us at times going years without speaking.  Because of our unique relationship, we have always been able to pick up the pieces the minute we see each other.  This time was no exception.  Real friendship lasts throughout a lifetime.  I’m fortunate to have a special bond with Cheryl, who not only was a Bridesmaid in my Wedding, but also a confidante and valuable colleague throughout my days of running a Women’s Wholesale Apparel Sales Office.  With our strong foundation, Cheryl and I are able to live 500 miles apart and support each other and grow together.

New York City Feels Like Home

In essence, our vacation is over.  In conclusion, the fun, friendship and memories of our New York City trip will last a lifetime.
