So, I’m on a travel sabbatical beginning tomorrow and taking a career break. While I’m on vacation, I will be rejuvenating and enjoying a luxurious trip to Italy.
Travel Sabbatical
My husband and I planned our vacation a while back.
Luckily for us, JetBlue Airlines added a direct flight from Boston to Milan.
When we arrive in Milan, we will head to our hotel to get situated.
Travel Sabbatical and Career Break
Time off is essential for breaking the everyday routine and returning with a better focus.
In addition, during my travels, it will enable me to connect with different traditions in another country.
Even though I’m self-employed, I think it is important to step back from my day-to-day operations and recharge my battery.
Since Milan is known as a premier fashion capital, I am looking forward to its stylish, cosmopolitan atmosphere. Check out my Parisian Chic to La Dolce Vita article for styles to embrace Italian fashion.
During our time in Milan, we will be exploring this metropolitan city, which blends history with fashion, design, and culture. At the same time, we have booked several different excursions. Of course, will check out the restaurant scene, which includes the various trattorias and Michelin-starred restaurants.
After 5 days in Milan, we are taking the high-speed train to Venice.
Travel Sabbatical – Venice
The last time I was in Italy, I fell in love with Venice. Indeed, there is something to fall in love with. From the winding canals and history, this city captivated me. This floating city is unmatched!
Although it has been several decades since I visited Venice, I am very excited for my return.
During our time in Venice, we have booked a few excursions. Moreover, we will be visiting the hidden gems of this city by gondola and dining in many canal-side restaurants.
Travel Sabbatical – Back to Milan
Finally, after 5 days in Venice, we will hop back on the high-speed train to Milan for our last 2 days in Italy.
We will return to the hotel where our trip started.
Moreover, we will spend our last 2 days leisurely strolling, relaxing, and having dinner at another Michelin-starred restaurant.
Once we return to the hotel, we will be packing.
And, the next day, we head back to the airport to return home.
My Goals for my Travel Sabbatical
In essence, I think it is essential that everyone hits pause in their career. Whether you work for a company or are self-employed, it is to your advantage to step back from your daily operations.
For instance, when you hit pause on your career, you are improving your long-term mental health.
Additionally, when you travel to a different country, state, or island, you can often be inspired by something you may have missed in your day-to-day operations.
Why Sabbaticals are Important
Of course, it is crucial for business individuals to transform from their everyday routine. By taking time away, you are stepping back to recharge.
Indeed, it is important to find time to enjoy yourself.
I have found that when I take time away from my everyday business routine, it enables me the time to create new content and foster new growth.
Also, I have many ideas brewing, and I hope to capture some of my ideas to perhaps write another book. However, time will tell!

Take lots of photos!
In addition, I will use my ideas to create something great.
Although my vacation is over, my adventure isn’t over. I will be able to reflect on all the places I visited and remember my journey.
Finally, plan your next destination. Do you want to plan a trip somewhere new? Or, do you want to revisit somewhere you have been before?
In summary, my holiday is important to me because it will help boost my creativity.
