Winter Storm Rocks Northeast

Winter Storm Rocks Northeast

Today’s post is about the severe Winter storm that hit the Northeast. Because I have lived my entire life North of Boston, the weather is unpredictable. It is important to realize this storm has been the talk of everyone for several days.

While watching the Bachelor finale last night, school cancellations and weather news flashed across the bottom of the screen.

Winter Storm

From Maryland to New England, schools, airlines and work have come to a complete stop across the Northeast. Furthermore, many states have declared a state of emergency. Of course, Mother Nature is creating havoc with the weather after a mild Winter. This storm hits a week before the official start of the Spring season.

Blizzard

Despite blizzard warnings being issued, my Husband went to work today. Since the weather pattern has shifted, many states have cancelled their blizzard warning and are under a Winter weather advisory.

In addition, many states have already had large accumulations of snowfall.

Winter Weather Advisory

With a Winter weather advisory issued throughout the Northeast, it is important to proceed cautiously. Visit my prior Winter weather advisory post for some tips. Of course, I hope you read this prior; so you’re not caught by surprise today.

State Impact

Many states are under impact from this storm. New York City won’t receive as much snow as the central part of the state. Connecticut is expecting 5 to 24 inches of snow. Also, a state of emergency has been issued in Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

In addition, flights have been cancelled for last night and into today. If you’re planning to fly today, check with the airline carrier. Additionally, Amtrak has shut down service between Boston and New York. Of course, the weather is making it difficult to get around. Many roads haven’t been plowed yet and tree limbs and power lines are causing outages.

Massachusetts is expected to receive up to 24 inches of snow in parts of the state. Coastal parts of the state could experience flooding due to high winds.

Use Caution

If you have to leave your home, use caution. Try and stay indoors and catch up on home projects. Visit my blog on 25 Snowy Day Indoor Activities. Use the day to catch up on indoor projects.

While the weather should ease up later tonight, many individuals will be outside shoveling and plowing. In conclusion, proceed with caution today and tomorrow.

Happy Snow Day!
