World Red Cross Day Celebration

World Red Cross Day is today, May 8th. Because this day is important to remember what Red Cross stands for, it is imperative that we recognize this day.

World Red Cross Day

When you think about the Red Cross, you should know it is a day dedicated to alleviate human agony. In the first place, the Red Cross protects lives, prevents emergencies and natural disasters.

When you think about all the tragedies that have occurred and what Red Cross has done, it is remarkable. By the same token, World Red Cross Day is meant to inspire and promote compassionate activities by the International committee of the Red Cross.

So, every year May 8th is the day we celebrate to honor the International Red Cross Crescent Founder, Henry Dunant. On Henry’s own initiative, he organized aid work. Indeed, his book became a plan for all countries to create an association to help the sick and wounded while at war.

Although Dunant suffered financial loss, his work was later recognized with a Nobel Peace Prize.
